Chapter 1:

Lost

Jiyū no ya

In the hushed gloom of twilight, Aiger’s world shattered into a million irreparable fragments. The night, once a canvas of tranquil stars, now bore witness to unspeakable tragedy. It was a night etched in blood, a night when innocence was torn asunder, and the echoes of agony reverberated through the very fabric of Aiger’s soul.

As dusk descended upon the tranquil hamlet of Daegal, the air thick with the scent of impending doom, Aiger returned home bearing the fruits of his labor. His young heart swelled with anticipation, eager to share his modest bounty with his cherished sister, Elara, whose laughter was the melody that danced amidst the silence of their humble abode.

But as he crossed the threshold into their sanctuary, a chilling premonition gripped Aiger’s heart with icy tendrils of dread. The once familiar sight that greeted him now lay in ruin—an inferno of chaos and despair. Splintered remnants of their home littered the ground like shards of shattered dreams, and the air was heavy with the stench of betrayal.

Panic seized Aiger as he stumbled through the wreckage, his voice a desperate cry amidst the deafening silence. “Elara!” he called out, his voice raw with anguish. But there was no answer, save for the haunting echo of his own despair.

With trembling hands and a heart heavy with dread, Aiger pressed forward, driven by a desperate need to find his sister, to ensure her safety in the face of unspeakable horror. And then, amidst the ruins, he found her—a fragile wisp of life, her form battered and broken, her eyes glazed with unfathomable pain.

The sight struck Aiger like a mortal blow, stealing the very breath from his lungs. He knelt beside her, his hands trembling as he cradled her broken form, his heart shattering into a million irreparable fragments. “Elara,” he whispered, his voice choked with tears. “Please, hold on. I’m here. I’ll protect you.”

But even as he spoke the words, Aiger knew that his pleas were in vain. For Elara’s life flickered like a dying ember, her spirit slipping away into the cold embrace of death. And as she drew her final breath, a keening wail of anguish tore from Aiger’s throat, a primal scream that echoed across the desolate landscape.

In that moment, something inside Aiger snapped—a thread of innocence severed, leaving in its wake a gaping chasm of unquenchable rage releasing heavy dark mana. The flames of vengeance burned bright within him, consuming his very being with their searing intensity.

From the depths of his despair arose a tempest of fury—a tempest that would consume him whole, driving him to the brink of madness in his relentless quest for justice. For in the wake of Elara’s death, Aiger swore an oath upon her memory—an oath to hunt down those responsible, to bring them to justice no matter the cost.

And so, with his heart heavy with grief and his soul ablaze with righteous fury, Aiger embarked on a journey into the heart of darkness—a journey from which there would be no turning back. For the shadows that lurked within him now threatened to consume him whole, and only the fires of vengeance could light his path through the endless night.
