Chapter 2:
Manifest
A giant city that spreads over the land is seen, the capital of Eldoria: Solstice City. Towering spires and grand architecture dominate the skyline, with bustling streets filled with all types of different people. Merchants call out their wares, children laugh and play, and the aroma of various street foods fills the air. Jade stands at the giant entrance of the city, his eyes wide with amazement. "Oooo, I've been here a long time ago with my father for business, but it's still so amazing," Jade says, his voice filled with wonder. He takes a deep breath, taking in the sights and sounds of the vibrant city.
The streets are lined with buildings, adorned with intricate carvings and banners fluttering in the breeze. Stalls and shops overflow with goods, from shimmering fabrics to exotic spices. In the distance, the majestic Solstice Palace rises above the city, its all white domes gleaming in the sunlight. As Jade walks through the bustling streets, he notices a group of Soul Knights patrolling, their gleaming armor catching the light. They move with purpose, a symbol of protection and strength for the citizens. Jade's heart swells with determination as he watches them, knowing that soon, he too will join their ranks.
Turning a corner, he finds himself in a large plaza. Suddenly, he hears screaming as a giant Dark Beast appears from the shadows, heading straight for a group of children. Without hesitation, Jade springs into action, his movements swift. At that same moment, a figure is seen jumping from a building's roof, with blonde hair and blue eyes. They both manifest an attack: Jade shoots ice crystals into the beast's chest, while Omaru, the figure from the rooftop, shoots a stream of fire from his palm. The ice shards pierce the Dark Beast's flesh, while the fire engulfs it in a fiery explosion. Blood sprays across the ground from the ice attack, and Omaru's fire attack creates a powerful blast. The Dark Beast roars in agony before crumbling into the air, disintegrating into nothingness as defeated Dark Beasts do. As the beast disintegrates, leaving no trace behind, The boys meet eyes, Jade notices the confident smile on Omaru's face. It's a smile that speaks of a hot-headed and impulsive nature, someone who leaps into action without a second thought. "Thanks for the assist" Jade says. Omaru jumps down from the rooftop, landing gracefully beside Jade. "No problem. Name's Omaru. Looks like we made a pretty good team back there." "Jade," he replies, extending a hand. "And yeah, we did. I didn't expect to run into a Dark Beast here of all places." The surrounding crowd erupts into cheers and applause. People gather around them, thanking them profusely. Jade and Omaru exchange a glance, a sense of camaraderie forming between them.
Jade turns to Omaru, a curious expression on his face. "Are you here to take the Soul Knight exam as well?" Omaru nods, a determined glint in his eyes. "That's right, I am. Just arrived in the city today. I heard this was the place to be if you want to become a Soul Knight." Jade, intrigued by Omaru's response, asks, "Say, where are you from? Everyone knows that the Soul Knight exams are held in the capital." Omaru scratches his head sheepishly. "I'm from a village on the outskirts of the country. I guess I got a bit lost on the way here." Jade chuckles, sensing Omaru's confusion. "Well, you're in luck. The exams are indeed held here in Solstice City. If you're looking to become a Soul Knight, you're in the right place." Omaru's face lights up with relief. "That's a relief! I was worried I had come all this way for nothing. Thanks for the info." "No problem," Jade replies with a smile. "Maybe we'll even end up in the same squad" "I better go check into a inn now, you should as well Omaru." Jade says. "Uh about that... I did not bring any money" Omaru says. Jade looks at Omaru with surprise. "No money? How do you plan on staying in the city?" Omaru scratches his head "I was hoping to find a way to earn some while I'm here. I didn't think that far ahead." Jade chuckles, patting Omaru on the shoulder. "Don't worry, I'll get you a room."
As the sun goes down, casting a warm glow over Solstice City, Jade and Omaru settle into their rooms, each lost in their own thoughts. Tomorrow marks the beginning of a new chapter in their lives, one filled with challenges they have not yet faced. Jade sits by the window, staring out at the city below. The bustling streets are now quiet, the sounds of the day fading into the gentle hum of the night. Meanwhile, Omaru lies on his bed, staring up at the ceiling. Little do they know, their paths are about to intertwine in ways they never could have imagined, leading them on a journey that will test their courage, strength, and friendship to its limits.
