Chapter 7:
Body swapping makes him ideal mother!
Susan had given birth to a baby girl. She, while nursing, had completely taken on the face of a mother.
Furthermore, when the child turned two, the "original" Susan made an appearance after a long time.
"It's been a while. How have you been?"
"The business has been going okay, I suppose. There's an offer from a major corporation to acquire it for a substantial amount, but I'm thinking of pushing a bit more on my own. I've been so busy, I've left most of the child-rearing to her. I try to secure as much time as possible for family services, but I do feel guilty for the "current" Susan."
"Many mothers accumulate stress from raising children, but I think she'll be fine. She's liked by the neighbors and relatives, and it seems like she has a lot of people to consult with. I couldn't do what she does..."
Susan looked out the window and sighed.
"The reason I came to see you today is because we have something to apologize for."
"We?"
"Yes. We've been lying. About the big lie of having a split personality."
I was truly shocked by her confession. The personality that I had once called Michelle had been swapped with a man named Michael. And this Michael, who she had been switched with, was that bank clerk. The "original" Susan was building a happy family as a husband named Michael, and so on.
Upon reflection, everything that had been puzzling fell into place like pieces of a puzzle. Had I been deceived? Dark feelings began to well up inside me.
The next day, after finishing my work and returning home, I exchanged a few words with my wife, confirmed that her personality was Michelle, and that our daughter had gone to bed. Then, I pressed her shoulder against the wall.
"You've done a good job deceiving me until now, Mister Michael."
She, or rather, he, looked up at me with fear in his eyes.
