I think this is the first time ever I have had to wait for her. It's morning and there’s a lot of people already. I was hoping the mall would be empty if we went this early but I guess not.
We are not the only one who is buying things the last second.
And I wait. Watch all these people passing by. I wonder what they are buying. And for whom? There is something about standing somewhere and watching people passing by. Everybody is going somewhere and has things to do and places to be. I think it's weird, but
I find it a bit relaxing. Observing stuff in general.
As I was staring at people minding their own business, I finally spotted a familiar person. Waiting for someone to come to you when you both see each other never gets old. Always awkward no matter who is it.
She seems more dressed up than usual. It didn't even cross my mind to pick up something nicer. Hopefully, she doesn't care about me having casual clothes. We went to get some nice food first, but all these people around were kinda ruining the moment for me. That is probably a really bad thing to say, but it is what it is. I can't stand masses of people walking around me. The worst is when someone gets in your way or slows you down. All of them are dived into their phones, not looking around them. You never know what could happen.
Didn't have the time to think about it anymore. Thankfully.
“So where will we go first?”
“I have no idea. Let's just walk around and see.”
The first stop was a clothing shop. She was looking through the stands and shelves and occasionally asked me if I liked what she picked for herself. Meanwhile, I was scouting for
a present for her, like I intended. A clothing store isn't where I would look, though. It seems like she wanted me here to help pick stuff. I don't have a problem with that but at least we could be somewhere where we both can find what we need. But this is also nice so no rushing anywhere.
“I don't mean to bother you but, could go to a place where I could find a gift for you? We’ve been only in clothes stores and a t-shirt was not on my list of options.”
It took me about 3 shops to collect enough courage to say this.
“I thought you weren't serious with the whole present thing. Sorry if I am wasting your time running around.”
“Don't say it that way. If I didn't want to be here, I wouldn't. But isn't the reason why we are here because I wanted to buy a gift for you?”
“Well, if you insist on it. I have no idea what kind of gift I would like.”
“Maybe if we step inside a place not filled with clothing only, we might find something no? So what do you say?”
“Sure. Isn't knowing what you get ignoring the whole point of giving gifts?”
“We are not kids anymore. God stop making such a big deal out of it.”
“I am not making anything, and it only made me think about it a little. I will never say no to free stuff so let's go!
Just like that, we got onto the main quest.
I got the impression that she would accept anything I’d offer, but after actually looking for something decent, it was me who was never satisfied. After what seemed like a never-ending battle, we found the one. It was a bracelet. Yes, a bracelet, but a really pretty one. The color of the pearls was just like her hair, and the best part was that she noticed and pointed at it first. We both were really happy with the find, and I grabbed it without even looking at the price. Obviously the “pearls” weren't real, but some glass or whatever so it wasn't any luxurious thing. It cost more than the basic ones, so I had a good feeling that I was not cheaping out
on her.
I was getting worried that I wouldn't be able to find anything, but this had to be the best ending I could imagine. I can't wait to give it to her and see her wearing it. I hope she will.
