Chapter 13:
Wolves in Glass Houses
I’m sitting in the green house. More of a glass house now really. No plants inside. Just a grass floor. I lay on it. Cloud watching though the glass roof. I can hear Cypress, and Raina. It’s hard not too.
“I made this for you.” He says.
“I didn’t know you liked whittling, and carving.” She says.
“Yeah.” He says.
“I like to paint.” She says. “Can I paint it?”
“Of course. Can I see your paintings some time?”
“Sure.” She says. I wonder if they know their crushes on each other is mutual. They’ed make a cute couple. I could picture them as mates.
“I like your name.” He says. “It’s funny Charlotte and Vanessa say you’re named after rain, but you act fiery.”
“Thanks.” She says. “I like yours. Like the flowers. Cypress is my favorite actually.” I get a text. It’s from Cheryl.
We still shopping tonight. - Cheryl
We being me, her, and Hollyne. V, Ross, and Jordan are doing a movie marathon tonight. (I like that they’re getting along so well.)
“We should go get dinner.” Raina says. “Like a date.”
“Ok.” Cypress says. “But I haven’t gotten my first check yet.” He’s working part time at Dellies. At least for now. That’s definitely not going to stick. I’m babysitting Debbie’s kid more often now. Raina I guess conditions art online. Jordan helps hunt (animals) or around the farm. Mostly hunting. He’d make a good tracker as a wolf, or a human. I’d like to plan a day as the four of us sometime though. I feel like me, Raina, Cypress, and Jordan would get along really well. Still it’s nice me, and my pack get to spend so much time together. It’s not like we go to school much. My skipping is getting on my mom’s nerves though. I’m not going to drop out yet though. I think. Unless there’s a big change with the Hunters, or there’s a real danger to our secret getting out.
“I’ll need to carve you a mask too.” Cypress adds. A cloud overhead passes that I swear looks like a wolf.
