Chapter 13:

A Heartbreaking Turn

When Hearts Connect

Raj, consumed by remorse and longing, sought out Ravish and humbly confessed his mistakes. Ravish, taken aback by Raj's transformation, listened intently as Raj poured out his heart, revealing the depth of his regret and his ardent desire to win Shruti back. Raj's sincerity was palpable, and Ravish, though deeply in love with Shruti, selflessly offered to step aside, acknowledging the lingering emotions Shruti still harbored for Raj.
"Hello, Ravish bhaiya," Raj said, his voice laced with sadness.
"Hello, Raj. What's wrong?" Ravish asked, concern etched on his face.
"I realize my mistake, Ravish. My girlfriend is nothing compared to Shruti. I've broken up with her," Raj said, his eyes downcast.
"What do you want from me, Raj?" Ravish asked gently.
"Nothing, Ravish. I just want Shruti back. I know I hurt her, but I promise to take care of her this time," Raj said, his voice filled with regret.
Ravish sighed. "Shruti is my girlfriend now, Raj. I love her more than anything. But she still loves you. If you're genuinely sorry, I'll step aside."
Raj's eyes lit up with hope. "Really, Ravish? You'd do that for me?"
Ravish nodded. "Yes, but you must promise to take care of her. She's been through a lot."
Raj's face set in determination. "I promise, Ravish. I'll do anything to make her happy."
However, when Ravish shared Raj's proposal with Shruti, she was engulfed by a mix of emotions - anger, hurt, and a sense of betrayal. She felt like a commodity being passed between them, without any consideration for her feelings. Ravish tried to reason with her, to convince her that he only wanted her happiness, but Shruti's past traumas and her loyalty to Ravish held her back. She was torn between her love for Raj and her gratitude towards Ravish, who had been her rock through thick and thin.
When, Ravish called Shruti. "Hey, Shruti. How are you?"
"I'm good, Ravish. What about you?" she replied, her tone distant.
"Raj met me today. He wants you back, Shruti. He's sorry for his mistakes and promises to take care of you," Ravish said, his voice neutral.
Shruti's silence was palpable.
"Shruti, do you like him?" Ravish asked gently.
"That doesn't make any difference," she replied, her voice cold.
"Shruti, you still care for him," Ravish persisted.
"No, I don't," she said firmly.
"Raj told me everything. He's genuinely sorry and wants a second chance," Ravish said.
Shruti's anger flared. "You think I'm a thing that you said he could take me? I'm not going back to him!"
"Listen, Shruti. I know you love him. Please go to him. I'll not say a word. It won't change anything between us," Ravish pleaded.
Shruti's response was icy. "I will talk to you later. Know one thing - I'm yours only."
Shruti called Akankshi, her best friend, and poured out her heart. "Akankshi, I'm so confused. I still love Raj, but I don't want to hurt Ravish again."
Akankshi listened attentively. "Are you really not going back to Raj, Shruti?"
Shruti sighed. "I love him, I want to, but all the past traumas... and what about Ravish? I always used him, and I don't want to hurt him again."
Akankshi's voice was filled with pride. "You are very brave, Shruti. I'm proud of you."
That night, Shruti's conversation with Ravish was strained. She couldn't shake off the feeling that she was hurting him again.
As Shruti struggled to come to terms with her emotions, her behavior towards Ravish changed dramatically, leaving him shocked and concerned. She became distant, her conversations with him strained, and her usual warmth and laughter absent. Ravish tried to reach out to her, to understand what was bothering her, but Shruti pushed him away, unable to confront her own feelings.
One night, on a call with Ravish, Shruti finally revealed her decision. "Ravish, I still love Raj. I want him back."
Ravish's voice cracked as he spoke. "Why didn't you say so yesterday? Wait, I'll conference Raj in."
Shruti's words were firm. "Raj didn't even try to contact me himself. I don't want to hurt you again, Ravish."
Ravish's tears flowed silently as he connected Raj to the call, his heart heavy with sorrow.
"Raj, Shruti wants to talk to you," Ravish said, his voice barely audible.
