Chapter 310:
Content of the Magic Box
In the early morning, as the first light of dawn broke over the horizon, the goblins began to stir. They emerged from their tents, rubbing their eyes and stretching their limbs. Despite their exhaustion, they were eager to continue their work.
Suzuka approached Hermit, who was already up and organizing the goblins.
"Good morning, Hermit," she greeted with a warm smile.
"Ready for another day of building?"
Hermit nodded, his eyes shining with energy.
"Yes, Helen. We're ready. We are!"
Suzuka clapped her hands to get everyone's attention.
"Alright, everyone! Today we continue building the wall. The dwarves will help direct the workflow, and Jacob will continue to use his earth magic to strengthen the foundation. Let's make today even more productive than yesterday!"
The goblins cheered and quickly got to work. Under the guidance of the dwarves, they carried bricks and laid them on the magic cement. The dwarves demonstrated yet again the proper techniques for building, ensuring the wall would be strong and sturdy.
Jacob used his earth magic to level the ground and remove any remaining tree stumps. Throughout the day, the goblins worked tirelessly. They formed assembly lines to transport the bricks more efficiently, passing them from goblin to goblin until they reached the wall.
Despite their small size and feeble strength, the goblins' teamwork and effort made up for it. They encouraged each other, shared tips, and laughed at their mistakes. There were moments of clumsiness and hilarity, but they quickly learned from their errors and improved.
As the sun set, the goblins built another impressive small wall section. It now stretched for almost two hundred meters, standing strong and tall. The goblins, covered in dirt and sweat, gathered around to admire their progress.
Hermit stepped forward, his voice filled with pride.
"We did it again," he said, his eyes shining with emotion.
"Another day, another hundred meters of wall. We're building our future, brick by brick. This wall will protect us from the perilous forest and the monsters living in it. No more evil goblins! No more nasty monsters! No more fear and pain! We will be safe here!"
The goblins cheered, their voices rising in a joyous ruckus. They had made numerous mistakes, but together they had accomplished something incredible. They had come a long way from the frightened, enslaved creatures they once were, and with each brick they laid, they built not just a wall, but a future filled with hope and possibility.
Suzuka addressed the group, her voice carrying over the noise.
"You've all done a fantastic job today. Rest well tonight, because tomorrow we continue building. We're creating something amazing here."
The goblins beamed with pride, their fears and doubts replaced by a newfound sense of purpose and unity. They had come a long way, and with each passing day, they grew stronger and more confident. The future looked bright, and they were eager to build a better tomorrow.
As the goblins went to rest, Suzuka stood by the wall, deep in thought. The goblins had made remarkable progress, finally constructing a section of the wall that was straight and even. However, Suzuka's mind was racing as she calculated the sheer magnitude of the task ahead.
"To surround 260 square kilometers of my land, I'd need approximately 64.48 kilometers of wall," she muttered to herself.
"Considering the goblins have only built two hundred meters in two days, it will take years to finish. And that's without even starting on the buildings and infrastructure. Even with a hundred goblins focusing on the wall, we're barely making a hundred meters a day. That's not enough, not even close. I need more goblins, way more. We need to hit more breeding farms and free as many goblin slaves as possible. I need at least ten times the goblins we have now."
While Suzuka was mumbling to herself, lost in her thoughts and plans, Hermit scampered toward her. With a meek and submissive tone, he muttered, "Umm, Helen? Is something wrong? Did we do the wall badly?"
Suzuka looked down at him and said, "No... that's not it. I was thinking it was time to free some more goblins. I'm pretty sure there are more breeding farms on my lands. We need to free these poor slaves." Suzuka tried to sound sympathetic, but her primary concern was gathering more hands to build her town.
Hermit, being the gullible goblin he was, rejoiced at hearing Suzuka's plans to save more of his suffering kin.
"Yes! Master Helen! There are many more! Many are in hiding spots. I know how to look, and I can scout with Larry tomorrow. We will find them and free my fellow goblins."
As they were conversing, Suzuka's sharp eyes caught movement in the distance at the edge of the clearing. She focused her gaze and noticed a head peeking from behind a tree. It was a goblin slave and immediately it was clear that he was not from her camp.
The goblins under Suzuka's rule looked energetic and well-fed, and their scars and wounds healed. They appeared like new goblins altogether. But this one was brutally beaten, his face swollen, both eyes blackened and bulging, his lips busted and hanging like sausages. He was so filthy that his stench gave him away even if Suzuka hadn't seen him.
Before Isaac could notice and possibly harm the intruder, Suzuka used her gravity magic to make the goblin weightless, causing him to float in the air. She approached the confused and frightened goblin, who was maniacally squirming and squealing, unable to comprehend what kind of divine power had made him float.
The goblin's eyes widened in sheer terror as Suzuka drew closer. He squirmed and struggled, emitting panicked squeals.
"Wreeeeeee! Please, don’t hurt me! Reeeeeeeeeeee! Don't hurt me! Eeeeeeeek! I'm not a bad goblin, I'm not! Wreeeee!" he pleaded in a high-pitched, trembling goblin voice.
Suzuka, maintaining her easygoing demeanor, gave him a reassuring smile despite the fact she could not understand what the goblin was mumbling about.
"Calm down, I’m not going to hurt you," she said gently.
Hermit quickly translated, "Friend! Calm! Calm! You are safe! No hurt! No hurt! We won't hurt you."
The floating goblin slowly stopped struggling, though his eyes were still wide with fear.
"Safe?" he uttered, disbelief coloring his voice.
"Yes," Hermit confirmed.
"You’re among friends now. No punishment no torture. We are all friends here. What’s your name, gobbie friend?"
"T-Timbo," he stammered, still not fully convinced of his safety.
"Well, Timbo, I'm Hermit. I am the leader of the goblins in this camp and I can assure you that you’re safe here," Hermit repeated.
"We’re going to help you, just like we’ve helped many others."
Timbo's eyes darted around, taking in the sight of the well-fed and healthy goblins frolicking in Suzuka's camp. Hope began to replace the fear in his eyes, though it was cautious and frightened hope.
Hermit stepped forward to further reassure the frightened goblin.
"Timbo, you're safe. Master Helen here, she saved us all. She is our protector, a guardian, and we'll take care of you."
Timbo looked at Hermit, then back at Suzuka, and finally nodded, the tension slowly leaving his body. Suzuka gently lowered him to the ground, using her gravity magic to set him down softly.
"Thank you," Timbo whispered, his voice choked with emotion.
Hermit showed a toothy smile and said, "You’re welcome. Now, let’s get you cleaned up and fed. While you recover, please tell us your story. Why are you here? Where you come? Are there any more goblin slaves in need of help? Tell us all and we will help to free them all."
Timbo, now seated on the ground and feeling somewhat safer, took a moment to catch his breath. He looked at Hermit's toothy smile and saw genuine concern in his eyes. With a deep sigh, he began to speak, his voice still shaky but growing steadier as he continued.
"Thank you," Timbo said, his voice filled with gratitude.
"I never thought I'd see kindness like this." He paused, gathering his thoughts.
"I come from a breeding farm not far from here, hidden deep in the forest. The conditions there are even worse than what I see around me in this perilous forest. We were beaten daily, given no food, not even to keep us alive. We were forced to work endlessly until we dropped on the ground. The evil goblins would beat us for the slightest mistake, starve us, and force us to breed constantly. The suffering was endless."
Hermit listened intently, his expression shifting from concern to sorrow. The pain and suffering were all too familiar.
"Go on, Timbo," he urged gently.
"There are more goblins, many more of them, still trapped there," Timbo continued, his voice tinged with sorrow.
"Most of them are in even worse shape than I am. They're scared, starving, and losing hope by the day. The masters... they’re cruel. They take pleasure in our suffering." His voice broke, and he had to take a moment to compose himself.
Timbo's body convulsed as he spoke of his latest torment.
"The last beating was the worst. The evil goblins, they were furious. They threw me outside and ordered me to scout this place, to find out what had happened where the mountain had been crushed. It was like some divine power had obliterated it. But I wasn't alone... a group of us were sent on this venture."
Timbo's voice broke, and he convulsed in fear as he recalled the horrors.
"But by the time I reached this place... all my fellow goblin slaves had been torn apart by the forest monsters. I barely made it here myself. I have scratches and bites all over... I was almost gone too." He shuddered, sobbing softly.
Hermit shivered, recalling the incredible feat Suzuka had performed.
"The mountain... That was Master Helen's doing," he said softly, a mix of awe and fear in his voice.
Timbo sat before Suzuka, his eyes wide with a mix of fear and awe. His bruised body trembled as he gazed at the beautiful woman before him. Her long hair shimmered in the sunlight, and her presence exuded a calm power that he had never experienced before. When he heard that she had crushed a mountain, his mind struggled to comprehend such a feat.
His goblin brain, tiny and underdeveloped, could not fathom how someone so beautiful-looking could wield such immense power. The only explanation his meager intellect could conjure was that Suzuka must be some kind of goddess. As he stood there, slack-jawed and bewildered, he couldn't help but imagine celestial beings descending from the heavens to perform acts of wonder.
"Is she... is she a goddess?" Timbo blurted out, his voice trembling with a mixture of fear and reverence.
"Yes, she is. She is our protector. We are safe with her." Hermit said.
Timbo nodded slowly, still unable to fully grasp what he had witnessed. He had spent his life in the brutal confines of a breeding farm, where survival meant enduring pain and suffering. The idea that someone like Suzuka could exist, someone who not only had power but also used it to protect and care for others, was beyond his comprehension.
