Chapter 40:
Escape:Witch [Remake]
The five girls walked around Athens with Eriza pointing out all the local landmarks.
"You sure know a lot about Athens," Yuni smiled.
"Yeah, we come here a lot to train. It's like our second home."
"Is that why you're not at the mansion?"
"The mansion? Auntie's place? Oh no, while Ma is really close with her, we're technically just close family friends. That's why she was fine withe Emeri-nee living there."
"I don't think mother told her the truth," Emeri whispered.
"Hmm? What are you whispering about?"
"Oh nothing... Say, did mother ever tell you anything about our family?"
Eriza shot Emeri a confused stare as she shook her head no.
"Figured. Well, I guess it's better if mother explains it."
"Explains what?"
"Oh look! There's some fresh milk being sold!" Madoka exclaimed as she noticed a stall selling milk.
"Guess Madoka-nee really likes milk."
"It actually heals her up, the more she drinks."
"Wait really!? I wish that would work on me."
"It would actually."
"Huh? Emeri-nee, what do you mean?"
Emeri let out a heavy sigh as she turned to face Eriza. "If I told you mother and Auntie are real sisters, how would you react?"
"Uh... They pretty much are."
"Well, that's good enough for me," Emeri smiled as she patted Eriza on the head.
...
As the girls reached the Parthenon, they noticed Koki and Eika were already there and passing the time doing squats.
"You were slower than molasses! What happened Koki asked.
"Sorry, I had to drink lots of milk," Madoka bashfully smiled as she plopped down three whole empty jugs of milk.
"Madoka-nee really healed up. Now she can do flips and stuff," Eriza explained.
A dash of nervousness briefly overtook Eika's face, but quickly vanished when Emeri changed the topic.
"She's still not clear for extreme physical action, so make sure to guard her as we tour the place. I don't want her getting kidnapped before Auntie arrives."
"Rumi-nee's comin' here?" Eika asked.
"Yeah, did she not send you a message on what happened in Japan?"
Eika once again began to go pale as she surmised something bad had happened.
"You alright? You lookin' kinda pale," Koki stated.
"Ah, must be a bit out of breath. Guess maybe we gotta do a cool down," Eika nervously smiled as she chugged her water.
The group then toured the pantheon, but throughout the tour, Eika remained on edge.
Sensing some unease in her mother, but not knowing the cause of it, Eriza attempted to change the conversation. "Oh yeah, Emeri-nee's got a girlfriend?"
"GIRLFRIEND!?" Eika and Koki both roared in confusion.
Emeri let out a sigh and pressed her hand into her head. "I forgot Eriza still has their stupid genes," she grumbled as Koki and Eika confronted her.
“I thought ya were supposed ta have a boyfriend. Isn’t that what girls are supposed to get?” Koki asked.
“It’s the Reiwa era, girls can have girlfriends father,” Emeri growled.
"Yeah, so back off. I love Emeri and she loves me, and if you're gonna try and tear us apart, I'll fight ya," Serika glared as she got in front of Emeri.
Emeri's parents stared for a bit before turning towards each other
“I never had a girlfriend,” Eika stated.
“And I never had a boyfriend, though I’m friends with plenty of guys, does that count?” Koki asked.
“I’ve got it Koki, lets race to see who can get a friend first! “
“Good thinking Eika, clearly there must be some training benefit to having them.”
“Yup! I bet Greenie got that sexy body by having lot’s of girlfriends. Plus Rumi-nee’s always been saying she wants a bunch of cute girls and she’s sexy strong. Let’s race!”
As the two jocks raced off, Emeri let out another sigh. "Eriza, this is why I didn't want them to find out, at least not until they were in the mansion."
"Why's that?"
"Because now they'll be on the front page of the town gossip paper for doing something stupid. Sorry Serika-chan, but as you can see, those two are really stupid."
"But at least they didn't tear us apart, so they can't be that bad."
"You have any idea how much hell I went through growing up? Remember what I told you about swim season? Every time, shave, flop, get mocked, repeat. When I found out I could've just chugged some milk I was furious. Mother deliberately didn't keep any milk in the house and only gave it to us in moderation, likely to prevent us from finding out."
"Uh, finding out what, Emeri-nee?" Eriza asked.
With a heavy sigh, Emeri decided to tell Eriza the truth, but before she could, Koki and Eika returned, each carrying someone in their arms.
“LOOK Eika, I found a boyfriend!”
“I got here first with my girlfriend!”
“Um, who’s the bald guy? He your training partner? The woman in Eika’s arms asked.”
“Nope, he’s my husband!”
“And she’s my wife!” Koki responded.
Slap! Slap!
The two people walked away in anger as Koki and Eika massaged their sore faces.
“What went wrong? I got a girlfriend just like you Emeri.”
Emeri let loose a massive groan as she sunk her hands into her face.
"Are your aunt and uncle always like this?" Yuni whispered to Madoka.
"I guess, I'd ask Emeri, but she appears to be... Not in the state to properly answer questions right now," Madoka nervously smiled.
"So when exactly will Rumi-nee be here?" Eika asked.
"Not for a few days at least. She just left Japan, and she's probably en route to Norway," Emeri replied.
"Norway... AH! It's still snowing right? Then let's do some winter trainin' there!"
"Now you're talking, Eika. Who cares if the Winter Olympics were just last year, athletes train year-round for the Olympics," Koki grinned as flexed his muscles.
"Skiing would be a nice change of pace. So when are we heading there?" Eriza asked.
"Right now, let's race to the airport. Oh, and help Emeri pack too. She, Madoka, and their girlfriends are comin' too."
Yuni and Madoka went red in the face as Eika and Koki raced off.
"Heh? No need to get flustered, Yuni. Now you're just like Onee-chan," Serika teased as she ruffled Yuni's twintails.
"S- Stop teasing me. I- It's not like I don't feel that way about Madoka, but..."
"Huh? Can't hear ya!"
"WILL YOU STOP IT, ONEE-CHAN!"
Eriza meanwhile watched the bickering in confusion. "Uh, are they sisters?"
"Yeah, it's a long story," Emeri replied.
"We never fought like that."
"We had a good sibling relationship, but sibling bickering tends to be normal," Emeri groaned as Madoka broke up the fight.
“Alright, break it up tsunderes. We're heading off to Norway I guess. Sucks that we couldn't do much here, but at least we got to see the Parhelion. That place was amazing, though I wonder if there were any secret rooms hidden in it,” Madoka mused.
“Parthenon! And I doubt it considering we’d probably know about it by now.” Emeri stated.
“So there’s no secret passage connecting to the minotaur’s labyrinth?”
“The Minotaur's labyrinth, assuming it exists would be in Crete, not Athens. Wait! Mado-chan, don’t tell me you want to try and escape from it.”
“Yep, no thread needed, just pure Madoka sense. If the Minotaur shows up, I’ll either run or kick him.”
“Pretty sure he’s dead according to mythology.”
“So, what’s the myth? I never really studied much Greek mythology,” Serika grumbled.
“Oh, I know this one, allow me to explain,” Yuni proclaimed.
“I was asking my girlfriend.”
“She’s busy babysitting, you’re stuck with your cute little sister.”
“Oh hey, Creekypedia’s got it right here. Now let’s see…”
“I wanted to show off my knowledge dammit,” Yuni pouted as Serika read through the Creekypedia page on the myth.
...
A petite woman walked through Athens filming herself with a selfie stick. Camo was clearly her thing as she sported a snazzy camo jacket, yoga pants, and hi-top sneakers. Even her horribly styled bowl cut had been dyed camo green. It was clear by her personality and actions that she was at the least, an influencer. But much darker secrets lurked under her pretty face.
"Oissu, you cucks watching? I'm here in Athens where Greek mythology rules. And ya know what myth I like most? That's right. chat. The minotaur. So start betting some cash, think our guests can escape Melinda Moriarty's minotaur mayhem? You better stay tuned or I'll hack your shit and sell it online!"
