Chapter 2:
Modern Enchanted Fairy Tale
It was morning, Elara was asleep in Mia's guest house. When Mia was already going to the school. "See ya, Elara. Make yourself at home," she said with a gentle smile before leaving. Elara nodded, her eyes still closed. She had a dreamless sleep, but the unfamiliar comfort of the bed had her feeling refreshed.
After Mia left, Elara decided to explore the house. She touched everything with wonder, marveling at the simple things that brought joy to people in this world. Her fingers traced over the smooth surface of a smartphone, her eyes lighting up when she realized she could communicate with it. She had heard of such devices from her father's tales of the outside world, but to hold one in her hand was a different experience entirely.
Her exploration was cut short when she heard a knock on the door. Panic set in as she remembered she was not alone in this place. She hastily tucked the phone into her dress and hurried to answer it.
Then, Agent Benedict was spying at Elara, he was hiding on the bushes outside the house, watching her through the windows. He was surprised by her beauty and grace, even in a world that was so foreign to her. He noted her curiosity and her innocence. It was clear she was not a threat, but rather a lost soul in need of guidance.
"Looks like we've got a real-life fairy tale on our hands," he murmured to himself, making a mental note to inform the chief.
Elara takes her deep breath, and not decided to heard anything. When, Agent Benedict walked away from the bushes, He was dressed in casual attire, blending into the neighborhood, but his eyes remained sharp and focused on the house. He had been tracking the energy signatures from the portal and had followed them here. He knew he had to be careful not to spook her or blow his cover.
It was now evening, Mia was arrived home with a bag full of groceries. She saw Elara sitting on the porch, playing with the smartphone she had introduced her to earlier. "Elara, you're a quick learner," she exclaimed, setting the bags down.
Elara looked up, her eyes shining with excitement. "Mia, this device is incredible. It shows me images, plays music, and even tells me stories!"
Mia chuckled. "It's just a phone, Elara. But I'm happy it's keeping you entertained." She handed her a fruit she had bought. "Here, try this. It's called a mango. It's one of the sweetest fruits we have here."
Elara took the fruit and studied it, feeling its velvety skin and smelling its tropical sweetness. She took a tentative bite and her eyes widened with delight. "It's like nothing I've ever tasted before!" she exclaimed, juice dripping down her chin.
Mia laughed, handing her a napkin. "You're going to love living here."
Elara nodded, still savoring the taste of the mango. "But what about the evil queen? How do I get back?" she asked, her voice filled with a mix of worry and longing.
Mia's smile faded a little. "I don't know about that yet. But I promise, we'll figure it out together." She paused, looking at Elara's hopeful face. "For now, let's get you cleaned up and into some modern clothes. You can't go around looking like a princess all the time."
They spent the evening trying on different outfits, with Elara giggling as she looked at herself in the mirror. The clothes were so different from the gowns she was used to, but she found the comfort in them surprisingly appealing. Mia showed her how to use the shower, explaining the concept of hot and cold water. Elara stepped under the warm spray, her eyes closing in bliss as she felt the grime of her journey wash away.
As they sat down for dinner, Elara picked at her food, still not quite used to the variety of flavors. Mia noticed her hesitation and took a bite of her own meal. "It's okay, you don't have to eat it if you don't like it. But you need to keep your strength up. We'll find something you like tomorrow."
Elara nodded, swallowing a mouthful of rice and chicken adobo. "Thank you, Mia. I just miss the food from my kingdom."
Mia's heart went out to her. "I can imagine," she said, her voice soft. "But you're safe here. And we'll find a way to get you home."
Elara and Mia are eating dinner in night, in the kingdom Adoria, the old witch and Mistress Lila had been watching Elara and Mia are dating. "I bet she would just LOVE to come crawling back here. Then, we'll be thrown away like fucking trash!" Mistress Lila spat.
The old witch nodded. "Patience, my dear. We'll find a way to kill her and we are going to rule the kingdom, even this multiverse!"
Mistress Lila chuckled, her eyes gleaming with malice. "Okay, this is the scary idea."
The old witch cackles and she makes a minion monster and sends it to the modern world.
Saturday, Elara and Mia are going to the supermarket to buy food. Then they arrived inside on Puregold Supermarket, Elara looked around in amazement at the bright lights and the endless aisles of food. "This place is like a giant treasure trove," she whispered to Mia.
Mia nodded, guiding her through the crowded store. "It's a supermarket. It's where we buy our food and supplies."
Elara pulls a cart and Mia looked to the list. "We need eggs, milk, some fruits, bread, and box of cereal." She explained to Elara. "These are the staples for breakfast."
Elara nodded, eager to learn the customs of this new world. She watched as Mia moved with purpose through the aisles, her eyes scanning the shelves for the items on her list. The smells were overwhelming, a mix of fresh produce and processed foods that she had never encountered before. She picked up a box of cereal, examining the brightly colored pieces inside. "It seems the modern breakfast food has good enough."
As they continued shopping, Elara noticed the way people glanced at her, some with curiosity, others with outright amazement. She knew she looked out of place with her outfit that Mia had picked out for her—a simple sundress and sandals. They had chosen the clothes to help her blend in, but her long, flowing hair and delicate features were a stark contrast to the more practical attire of the women around her.
When, they going to any food shops. Also, Lila's minion monster was Invisible Slasher was roaming the streets of Manila, searching for the energy signature of the princess. It had been programmed to find and eliminate any threats to the queen's reign, and it would not rest until it had completed its mission. Then the Invisible Slasher turned invisible, it open the doors, then the worker notice it. "Stupid door." He said, but he doesn't know something's wrong.
Meanwhile at the noodle shop, Mia receives two bowls and takes them away. "Thanks dude." Mia said, handing one to Elara.
Elara took the bowl, steam rising from it. She took a tentative sniff and wrinkled her nose. "What is this?"
Mia chuckled. "It's pancit, a popular dish here. It's noodles with vegetables and meat. Give it a try."
Elara cautiously took a bite and her face lit up. "It's delicious!" she exclaimed, slurping the noodles with gusto. The flavors were a delightful assault on her taste buds, so different from the cuisine of her own kingdom. Then, the Invisible Slasher finds Elara and Mia. It crawls silently towards them, but some but some refrigerator magnets causes its invisiblity power to fail.
Mia sees the creature's eyes flicker into visibility and freezes, but the creature's invisiblity power are restoring. "Elara, there's a monster here!" Mia whispers urgently, her heart racing.
Elara looks around, her eyes widening as she spots the creature. She drops her bowl, noodles flying everywhere. The creature hisses, baring sharp teeth, and charges at them.
Mia grabs Elara's hand and pulls her into a sprint, weaving through the aisles as the monster pursues them. People in the supermarket scream and scatter, creating a chaotic scene. The Invisible Slasher's eyes flash with anger as it knocks over shelves in its haste to catch them.
"It's from the evil queen and the old witch! What does it want for?" Elara gasps, her eyes wide with fear as they dodge shoppers and carts.
Mia's mind races. "I don't know, but we can't let it catch us!" They dart down an aisle, and Mia spots a display of kitchen knives. She yanks one from the rack and holds it out in front of them. "Stay behind me!"
The Invisible Slashers roars, but Mia throws the knife, killing the creature in a swift motion. Shocked, Elara watches as the creature dissolves into a pile of glittering dust. She turns to Mia, who's breathing heavily, "You...you killed it?"
Mia nods, her eyes still wide with adrenaline. "I had to. It wasn't going to stop until it found you." She says, her voice trembling slightly.
Elara looks at the knife in Mia's hand, then back at the dust. "Thank you," she whispers, her heart still pounding in her chest. "Let's go, well, we still had food."
Mia nods, swallows hard, and puts the knife back. They quickly gather their things and pay for the remaining items, trying to ignore the curious stares of the people who had witnessed the commotion. As they leave the supermarket, Elara can't help but look over her shoulder, expecting the creature to reappear at any moment.
Once outside, the fresh air feels like a relief. They hurry to the car, and Mia starts the engine. "We need to be more careful," she says, her eyes on the rearview mirror. "The queen won't stop sending these things after you."
Elara smiled, as they driving to the home. Which, they would be safe for now. Also, they will be careful for now on.
