Chapter 64:
The Lifeless Supermoon: A Fateful Encounter
Them? At night? Promise? What was happening between them? They wondered.
After a few moments, Ayane stopped crying.
“Not at all, Kanako-kun. You didn't break your promise. After all, you came to help me.", she said, removing her grip from Kanako's shirt.
"You girls are very lucky she was here to interrupt my rage.", he said, still full of anger.
Hanabi, Miyako, and Fubuki were all ashamed and intimidated by Kanako. Something... instincts were telling them to run away as fast as they could, but they couldn't do it. Their legs wouldn't budge. They couldn't look at his face, now that their true self were revealed to him.
“I see… so that was the reason you three were so nice to me, well thank you.”, he said mockingly.
They all went silent.
“You know, you girls are exactly the type of girls I dislike-, no, hate.”
His voice echoed in the classroom. It was clear that he was hearing no one out.
“I would have done more to you three instead of just saying stuff like this. But as this is between Ayane and you three-“
He looked at Ayane, who was standing still behind him. He grabbed her hands and pulled her beside her.
“You don’t mind that I held your hand, do you?”, he asked Ayane in front of them.
“N-no, I don’t.”, but she was flustered. It was very sudden.
“Now Ayane, tell me. What do you want to do with these three that bullied you? Should I report it to the homeroom teacher? Or something else? I will do everything for you.”
Kanako holding hands and saying this stuff to Ayane made them jealous for sure, but they couldn’t do anything.
The decision-making was given to Ayane. She thought for a moment, before giving out a verdict.
“Okay, I have decided.”, she said.
Hanabi, Miyako, and Fubuki were expecting the worst from her.
“I forgive them. Yep, thats my decision.”
“Eh? Ayane-chan are you sure?”, Kanako asked.
“Yep.”
“But they have done horrible stuff to you.”
“Still, revenge breeds hatred. By forgiveness, I can at least hope to become friends.”, she smiled with her big heart, shining like a true supermoon.
“Ayane-chan, you…”
“Hm?”
“Well, I guess I can’t do anything here.”, he looks at those three, “You have heard her, now get lost and don’t even think of doing the same thing again. This time, Ayane-chan has forgiven you three, but I haven’t.”
He grabbed Ayane’s slender and smooth hands and went out of the classroom, leaving the three in silence, depressed, angry, and lost.
“Let's go…”, Miyako said in a depressing tone to the other two.
Meanwhile,
"Are you sure that leaving the, like that would be okay?", Ayane asked.
"Why not? They deserve it, don't they? And it's not like I am dependent on them on something."
"Don't be so rude... the Kanako-kun I know is very kind-hearted.", she said with a smile.
"Sorry. It's just that I am a bit angry and annoyed."
"I know. Thanks for being angry for my sake..."
Kanako was holding Ayane's hands unconsciously. But when he realized this he immediately let go of her, but she insisted to continue holding hands.
"Just for today, okay?"
"O-okay.", Kanako said, flustered.
"Thanks.", Ayane said, giggling. She was feeling a little clingy that day.
