Chapter 2:

Death Appeared.

An Amateur's Story Collection

That night was when my luck finally ran out. My reckless foolishness finally caught up to me, and the night I was asked to pay my due. That was the night I met Death himself.

The floor beneath my feet shook like there was on earthquake, yet the buildings around us looked the same. The girl we had captured had fallen unconscious with blood dripping from her head. In front of us was her friend, kneeling head down. He probably thought she was dead with how hard I had hit her over the head. Serves her right for putting as such a fight.

But the ground shook, and the boy kneeled, head bent.

“Hey, get up! Lil shit!” I shouted up, ignoring the rumbling ground. “Your lil girlfriend hurt me pretty much back with her nails. You are gonna have to pay for that since she is a bit half-dead now.”

“Boss, I think he is crying, haha,” one of the henchmen laughed as he went forward towards him. “Should have known better to make messed with us- “

At once, the rumbling stopped, and everything fell silent. What broke the silence minutes later was the henchman’s confused expression as he stared at his fingerless hands, followed by screams.

The boy's head was still bent on his knees. I looked around for other enemies, but no one was there. The others did the same.

“Search for any other enemies and secure the entrances,” I hurriedly instructed them with the henchman still screaming his lungs out, but soon after, he fell once again, and as I looked back at the boy, there he stood over the headless body of the henchman. His eyes were pitch black, with black tears streaming down his face. But he just stood there…quietly.

I took a step back, and horridly enough, he took a more sluggish one forward. This wasn’t going too well.

“Ha, so you are a conduit, huh, kid! And after all that talk about your girlfriend not knowing anything!” I blurted out as I showily backed up, signaling the others to load up and go into positions, and pathetically, he slowly moved forward, not being the wiser.

With a wave of my hand, the boy eats lead from all directions.

“Don’t worry, we will make sure your pretty girlfriend comes to join you right away,” I shouted through the sound of guns being fired, but the boy still stood, crying. It wasn’t until the henchmen threw a flash grenade at him that I moved, and, in the blink of an eye, that henchman’s arm was off with him screaming in pain. His pupilless eyes were wandering back to me. The others fired at will, and to my eyes, I could only see a blood bath as limbs and heads flew.

And every time he did so, he would look at me and move forward slowly.

Finally, my legs allowed me to move as I ran out the back, leaving the others to fend for themselves in there. Running in fear, as I was not looking, I tripped to the ground, and as I looked up, there he stood, eyeless, in front of me. Yet another silence was heard in the building.

Without hesitation, I point my gun straight in between those eyes and fire. He staggered, to my delight. It was a gun that was guaranteed to kill any conduit, ANY!

As I quickly reached out to take another round, the boy clocked back his head, and to my horror, half of his face was gone, yet a dark void was in its place. I was too petrified to move for a minute, but it was the fact that he only sluggishly moved forward towards me that gave me the time to run away.

Trying to run with all my might, I turned back to only see him standing there once again, and I grinned, taking to my hills even more. Yet, not even ten meters away from me, I fell to the ground again. For a split second, my vision blurred. I tried to get up to my feet, but in front of me were my legs, bloodily bleeding on the ground.

“You…you bastard!!” I screamed, mixed with the pain. I turned and fired the gun in my hand away one after the other, but this time, he refused to stagger back or fall, moving slowly closer and closer toward me. I fired till the gun clicked with lack of ammo. I hurriedly searched for more, but the boy only walked past me after moving so close to me. He was already behind, too.

“Fight me, you fucking condui-”.My throat hitched as blood built up and gushed from my mouth. Instantly, my head cracked down, and I stared at the logo of my gang at the back of my jacket in the eye.

As my eyes slowly went bloodshot, I could still peek up at the top of my eyelid to see the boy still walking on back to the building, never bothering to look back as my head remained completely twisted over my shoulders.
