Heart of a hero

Kofi was on his way home when the buffalo monster attacked.

Kofi was still running when he heard an explosion behind him.

BOOM!

He dared to look behind him, seeing the military vehicle that had arrived in flames. The monster on the other hand, was busy roaring triumphantly.

Kofi grit his teeth, before turning around and running away from the place.

A few minutes later, he stood within a crowd a good safe distance from the monster. A shriek broke the silence.

"My child! She's still back there! You can't let her die!" A woman fought against a soldier who stopped her.

"It's too dangerous to return there!" He said, holding the hysterical woman back.

"That's none of my business," Kofi thought, turning away.

"How can a human just let a child die!? Huh? How can you let a mother stand helplessly, as her child is killed!?" The woman shouted.

Kofi stopped in his tracks. It felt as if the words were directed to him. He had always said he wanted to become a hero? How sincere was he really?

Would a hero just and by and watch a child die.

Kofi turned around and dashed through the barricade set by the soldiers.

Never!

"Hey, stop or we'll shoot!" The soldier yelled, but Kofi had already darted around the corner.

Kofi ran on, until he reached the place where the monster had appeared. He peeked around the corner to see something shocking. The area had changed from the last time he had seen it.

Craters filled the ground, cars lay ruined and upturned, and the buildings had been toppled, and reduced to ruins.

Kofi let out a cold breath.

The monster was nowhere to be seen, but Kofi saw something even more interesting. In the air, was Ultra-Point and another strange-looking humanoid creature. It had dark scaly skin, with large wings formed from dark energy. They were engaged in a battle that was too fast to follow.

As he engaged in watching, he heard something.

"Help! Help!" It was the voice of a child sounding like the desperate whimpering of a kitten.

Kofi's eye's widened, and he rushed into the ruined street. He stopped near a deep crater, and at the bottom, was a little-girl. She looked like she was barely 6 years old, and her left leg was swollen and bleeding.

"Hey," Kofi called out gentl to the girl, when her desperate brown eyes met his, he consoled her. "Stay right there, I'm coming down to fetch you."

With that, he jumped into the hole and slid in. Outside the crater, he heard a crash, and pebbles were blown into the hole. He ignored it, and focused on helping the girl.

He placed her on his shoulders, before he tried to climb out. Another explosion rang out.

Kofi ignored it and climbed out with difficulty. He managed to climb out, even with the girl on his back. He then dared to throw a look behind him.

On the other side of the crater, stood a scaly monster with purple lightning and black energy swirling around him, while in the air was Ultra-Point.

Kofi's eyes widened when he saw what Ultra-Point was doing. A massive red sphere had formed and it was pointed...

"No, no, no!" Kofi tried to run with girl on his back but in the next second he a crashing sound.

Then, he saw red.
