Chapter 4:
Ascension of the Successor
I never imagined that Sensei would be one of the teachers at this school; I had always admired him.
Strangely, Aiko came to ask me if I knew Sensei Haruki. I simply answered yes, as he was my mentor. She looked at me with a strange expression.
When the test began, Sensei assessed the physical condition of each student in the room, but he had an assistant to evaluate the physical condition of the female students. Some had athletic builds, while others were not in good shape yet.
When we started training with wooden swords, I noticed that Sensei was going easy on the students in the class, and I was puzzled why he said nothing and only pretended that the fight was fun.
When it was my turn, my Sensei gave a sidelong smile and called me over. I went all out, and he got excited, ending up knocking me out. I woke up in the school infirmary with Aiko by my side.
I heard some strange words from Aiko wishing my death and some other horrible things. It was at that moment that I realized life is full of masks, and you never know what others truly think of you.
— Aiko, is that you?
— Yes, Kazuki, are you okay?
— Yes, my Sensei is very strong.
I started to feel better and realized that I really had no way to defeat him.
The day of the island test arrived. Everyone went to their designated places. Our class stuck together and formed a strategy.
Yuki was the leader of our class; she planned everything and kept control over what happened within our group.
We began to defeat the dark creatures one by one. Surprisingly, our class ended up with a rank of C.
Upon returning to school, the students from class D started being mocked because of this.
My true goal is to become a strong warrior, but this school limits my training. Therefore, I plan to leave this school when I start my second year. I will become strong before I turn 18 and help everyone who needs it. I will defeat creature after creature until none remain; I will exterminate them all.
