Chapter 6:
Ascension of the Successor
It has been six months since my Sensei's death. I have been training relentlessly and, since then, I left the school and have not seen anyone from there again.
I created a rigorous training routine for myself, and over time, I achieved the rank of B warrior. Every day, I go to the library in a small village I discovered. The attendants have become my friends, and my reading buddy, Hiroshi, is a constant companion.
While walking through the village, I sensed the presence of a very powerful dark creature. I decided to investigate and, upon looking into the creature's eyes, realized it was the same one that was present the day my Sensei died. Although I was tempted to confront it, I knew I wasn’t prepared for a fight at that moment. I watched the creature leave and noticed that a child and a woman were approaching it.
That’s when I realized that my decision not to attack was correct. However, I will find it again, and next time, it won't be so lucky.
I arrived at the library to look for books on self-awareness and combat techniques. Spotting Sakura, the friendly attendant, and Sora, another acquaintance from the library, I approached them.
— Good morning, Sakura. Good morning, Sora.
— Good morning, Kazuki-kun.
— Where can I find books on swordsmanship?
— It’s in the third aisle to your right.
— Thank you, Sakura and Sora.
— You’re welcome, come back anytime!
I began reading and practicing intensely, determined to become a stronger warrior. My journey has just begun.
While I was in the library, reading a book, I bumped into a beautiful young woman who seemed a bit distressed.
— I’m sorry, I was distracted.
— It’s okay, I was a little distracted too.
— You seem to be in a hurry. Is someone following you?
— Yes, please help me find a place to hide.
— Of course, come with me.
We saw some guards passing by, looking for someone. When they showed a photo of the young woman, I realized she might be a princess or someone important from the kingdom.
— Are you a princess?
— Yes...
— But why are you fleeing the kingdom then?
— My father has arranged for me to marry someone I don’t want to.
— A forced marriage?
— Yes, my father is very protective; he doesn’t let me leave the kingdom or meet other people except on special occasions.
— If you need a place to hide, my house is not far from here.
— Really? Thank you so much.
I took her to my house, and it was already getting dark. I didn't have any clothes that would fit her, and being of royal status, I doubted she would like to wear my clothes. She offered to make dinner, and I accepted. I went to take a bath, and when I returned, I heard a noise. When I checked, she had burned the meat that was cooking. We had a good laugh about it.
I asked if she would mind wearing some of my clothes, and she said it was fine. But I kept wondering what underwear she might use, as I had none.
— I haven’t asked you yet, what is your name?
— My name is Rina.
— So, Rina, would you like to come with me to a friend's house?
— Sure, but why?
— I noticed you don’t have any underwear and wanted to help you with that.
She became very embarrassed, but we went to Sakura’s house. She invited us to stay over, and we did. We spent the night at Sakura’s house.
