Chapter 9:
Ascension of the Successor
— Students, please step forward and pick up a sword.
Each student selected their sword, and I began calling them one by one to fight me. I went easy on everyone, but still, no one managed to defeat me. To motivate them, I decided to spice things up a bit.
— Whoever can land a hit on me will be free from homework.
Immediately, everyone rushed at me, but no one managed to hit me. However, then it was Rina’s turn. She approached stealthily, and before I realized it, she managed to hit me from behind. I was impressed by her skill, and the other students couldn’t believe it either.
— Congratulations, Rina, you are free from homework this week — I declared, still surprised.
— Thank you, Sensei — she replied with a victorious smile.
I continued at the school for a while, training the students and honing my own skills in the training field. Every day, Rina would show up to watch me. No matter if it was vacation or a regular day, she always visited me.
After finishing the book that the mysterious old man had sold me and perfecting the techniques described in it, I felt that I was finally ready to follow a new path. I decided it was time to become more independent and join a guild to hunt the dark creatures terrorizing the region.
I joined a guild, where I was welcomed by a beautiful and imposing woman named Yuki. She asked what my warrior rank was, and I told her I was about to reach the Special rank. However, she seemed skeptical, and many in the guild laughed at my claim.
When I showed her my warrior card, the room fell silent. Yuki was stunned, as she had never seen someone so powerful enter her guild. The other members were also astonished.
— Why do you want to join a guild if you are already so powerful? — Yuki asked, still intrigued.
I responded firmly:
— I am here because of a promise I made to my Sensei. Besides, my goal is to exterminate all the dark creatures threatening our world.
She finally understood my determination and gave me my first mission. The challenge seemed simple: face some dark creatures of level B. I went to the designated location and defeated all of them with ease, quickly returning to the guild with proof of my victory.
Yuki was impressed with my speed and skill. She could hardly believe that I had defeated the creatures in such a short time. News of my achievements spread quickly, and soon my name was known throughout the guild.
I began to be called the "Creature Exterminator," and that title started to carry significant weight. Everyone knew who I was, and they knew that my true objective was still ahead: to hunt the dark creature responsible for my Sensei’s death.
