Chapter 198:
En Passant Grandmaster
As the players were called to the board, Okisato took notice of Kugisaki's hidden smirk. However, not even he could have predicted what was about to happen, before it was too late.
"Now, why don't we state the conditions for this bout. First off, since you and me are merely chosen representatives, no punishment or prize should be given to us regardless of performance. But the others should be subjected to something. Hmm, Kugisaki-kun, what do you think we should do to these young ladies?" Ginji snickered.
"Hmm, maybe force them to work for me for the rest of their lives without pay, oh and maybe sex too if you can force em to do things like ya said."
"Iyayaya, I can't force them to do anything, but I assume that big chess guy that kneecapped you can."
"Then I hope that guy kneecaps him again," Penny glared.
"Then I guess Shin Kugisaki's punishment will be being subjected to whatever punishment Raymond Redfield decrees upon him in addition to returning Mizuse Niimi Inc to control of Penelope Banilla and Sandra Lacey," Okisato glared.
Ginji's eyes narrowed, but nonetheless, he still secretly activated his DESPER. Okisato was given the 1st move, but paused as he noticed a speck of something on his a-pawn, but as soon as he touched the piece, a mild headache began to afflict him.
"What's wrong. Touch move, touch take," Ginji sneered.
Okisato glared, yet retained his composure as he moved his piece to a4.
"Oops! You went one space too far for you're little Anderssen opening. Now you can't use that Japanese opening or whatever on me," Ginji cackled as he moved his pawn to e5.
"What do you mean? I'm playing to ensure maximum disrespect, both to avenge Gorou-kun, and for the bullshit you're employing to try and win this," Okisato glared as he slammed his rook down on a3, causing Ginji and Kugisaki to burst into mocking laughter.
"The mercury must've really gunked up his brain! Now master Ginji can win with ease," Kugisaki thought as Ginji mercilessly captured the rook at a3 with his bishop.
Okisato stared at Ginji's hands and scowled. "He must be wearing flesh-like gloves. Either that or he's intentionally subjecting himself to this to try and play innocent.
"Iyah, a rook for a bishop. You really are a "genius". So sorry, but I'm a super genius," Ginji sneered as he moved his pawn to d5.
"Then what will you be when you lose to a Meadow hay?" Okisato glared as he moved his pawn to d4.
"Irrelevant since it won't happen," Ginji sneered as he moved his pawn to e4.
As Okisato moved his pawn to c4, Raymond arrived and gazed at the state of the board. He quickly surmised a Meadow Hay Mistake was played, but simply passed it off as Okisato being Okisato, much to Kugisaki's luck and relief.
Ginji meanwhile moved his bishop to e6 while Okisato moved his bishop to f4. He then began wincing as his head began to ache, but managed to remain focused and moved his knight to c6.
"Did that idiot put Mercury on my pieces too? No, I wore gloves just in case," he thought as Okisato moved his knight to b5.
Ginji then moved his rook to c8, prompting Okisato to capture the pawn at d5 with his c-pawn. Ginji naturally captured said pawn with his bishop, while Okisato moved his pawn to e3. He then moved his knight out to f6, while Okisato brought his own knight out to e2.
Ginji was quick to castle king's side, while Okisato decided to move his knight to g3. This prompted Ginji to move his pawn to h6, while Okisato opted to move his knight to c3.
Seeing no danger, Ginji moved his queen to e7, while Okisato moved his bishop to b5. This prompted Ginji to act more aggressively and move his queen to b4, yet Okisato didn't seem phased by it at all and simply castled king's side.
"Hmm, it does feel a little surreal to see him castle, then again I'm probably just used to him forfeiting his castling rights," Daria thought as Ginji moved his knight to e7.
Okisato picked up on the misstep and quickly moved his bishop to e5, prompting Ginji to move his bishop to b3. "Hmm, I wonder if this stuff on the pieces is affecting him too," he thought as he slid his queen to e2.
Indeed, Okisato's theory was right on the money, as much to Ginji's surprise, Kugisaki had actually smeared more mercury on the black pieces than the white pieces, so much so that they had managed to seep through his gloves. He could still play fine, but his head had begun to ache, causing him to miscalculate a bit, made all the more apparent when he moved his pawn to c6.
Okisato was also suffering from the mercury, but due to the lower amount of exposure, could still think close to his normal level, and managed to find the best move; capturing the knight at f6 with his bishop.
Ginji still kept his cool though, and captured said bishop with his g-pawn, but after a check from the queen moving to g4, he made a misstep and defended by moving his knight to g6, allowing Okisato free reign to make the devastating, queen to h6 play.
The game still wasn't lost though, but it was now clearly in Okisato's favor, until Ginji made a massive blunder and captured the bishop at b5 with his c-pawn. Kugisaki openly cheered, unaware that his man had just lost the game.
"So Mr. "Super genius", how's it feel to lose to a Meadow Hay?" Okisato snickered as he captured the pawn at h6 with his queen.
"Huh? You deluded, little "genius"? the game's far from over," Ginji chuckled as he captured the pawn at a4 with his bishop.
"Wow, guess this stuff on the pieces hurt you more than me. Mate in 1," Okisato declared as he moved his knight to f5.
That statement terrified Kugisaki in more ways than one, as he suddenly found Raymond's angry eyes staring him down.
Ginji meanwhile, didn't seem worried, nor see the humiliating defeat that was about to befall him. "'Stuff on the pieces'? What are you talking about? I've been playing juuust fine," he chuckled as he woozily captured the pawn at b2 with his queen.
"Looks like you're in for a world of disciplinary action then. Checkmate, BA-KA!" Okisato snickered as he slammed his queen down on g7, winning the game.
Ginji immediately went pale upon realizing his defeat, and ended up stumbling out of his chair to the ground as he attempted to leave.
Raymond quickly walked over and gazed at the pieces, scowling as he realized what was on them. "Mercury poisoning. Ginji Inohara, assuming you were aware of this, there WILL be disciplinary action taken against you, though I guess you should count yourself lucky that your accomplice's scheme ended up hurting you more. Now then, to the cheater of repeated offenses..."
Kugisaki immediately attempted to bolt, but Raymond immediately caught up to him and unsheathed a sword from his cane. He then sliced Kugisaki in half just above the waist, along with parts of the wheelchair due to being in the blade's path. Kugisaki's severed upper half fell forward to the ground as he screamed in pain, however, it wasn't over yet as Raymond shoved his sword into him and propped him up on it.
"Now I decree that you'll be transformed into a Mechanical Turk like automaton. Your flesh will turn into machine part, though you will remain conscious and be able to feel all the moving parts within you. Since you will be constructed in the vein of the Mechanical Turk, this means people will be able to climb inside you and control you, meaning you'll have no free will to move on your own. As for the specific specifications..."
As Raymond listed all the specifications for the punishment, Penny and Sandra huddled together in terror. While they didn't completely feel bad for Kugisaki, Raymond had succeeded in completely terrifying them of him. And the terror only grew as they watched Kugisaki scream in pain as he was transformed into an automaton. A large wooden desk then materialized and attached itself to Kugisaki as his flesh became more plastic-like. When the transformation was finished, he went silent, though muffled screams could faintly be heard coming from his now sealed lips. And for the finishing touch, a turban materialized atop his head and he was dubbed, Shin Turk.
With Kugisaki dealt with, Raymond then turned his focus back to Ginji. "Now, let's deal with you," he glared as he pulled out his WWCF card.
