Chapter 24:
Crimson Power Black Feather
Yoshio was home alone, and for the rest of the evening, he decided to take his mind off of Sora's matters, waiting for Maki to return back, so they could search for the creep together. As he realized Maki was not coming, he had made himself dinner, and currently sat in his room, eating pudding, looking out of the window. He observed the calm nature of their backyard, he could not help but think back. He thought about his early years as a tengu, trying, for a hundred time to remember why he wanted to find that specific ayakashi, the one he had no idea what he looked like, but he knew that the moment he saw him, he would recognize him. For the last six hundred years, except for several pauses for seclusion, he had made not much progress, once or twice stumbling on serial killers, who might have been him. However, he had never been successful.
He somehow gathered after he was re-born, that his main motive was revenge for his past life. Life he could not truly remember. Thanks to the librarian, he knew he became a tengu due to the power of his wish for vengeance, and that the ayakashi was someone who liked harassing women and consuming their energy. It seemed that the old umbrella knew so much more, than he gave away, for some reason. Irritating old scumbag...
It has been many years now that he did not get any traces of that ayakashi he was searching for. This time, he felt something inside, like a cop’s intuition telling him Sora was involved in something to do with him. He wanted to feel relief knowing he might be soon meeting him, however, could not.
The light inside flickered, returning him to his senses. Yoshio looked at his phone, it was getting pretty late.
Where is Okamura? Was this fox so hard to deal with?
He sighed and poured some green tea. He had to use a computer today, which he was not a huge fan of, due to all the tabs and windows opening. He was unsure how to google a person correctly, as the name Watanabe Noroi sounded made up to him, and he did not get in the news or anything like that. Sora gave him the profile name he used on Insta, but it had been long gone since his arrest, it seemed. However, he needed to find him, especially if he was THE guy, or knew THE guy at least.
For now, he needed Okamura to come back, and help him. He was so much better at finding people, generally. Also, maybe there were some pluses to getting closer to a fox, they have a great sense of smell. However, there was nothing to give a fox this time. It would be very disappointing to just let this clue go, though.
He subconsciously peeked at his silent phone again, he hoped she got home fine. He should have sent Maki to her. He stood up, and walked downstairs to the kitchen, to throw away the pudding container. He washed the spoon, put it down, and leaned against the counter, feeling reckless somehow.
Should I call him? He would have let me know if something happened though. The girl probably would too. I am not sure what I should do about tomorrow though...
It all felt exhausting, so he decided to just sleep. His day was done, and there was no energy left in him anyway.
As he was about to go to sleep, his phone buzzed. He turned rapidly and the phone appeared in his hand immediately. Maki called, Yoshio frowned, clicking the reply button.
"Master," he heard Maki’s usually serious voice, "you better come here. I think you need to see this."
