Chapter 1:

The Assassin

An Assassin of Many Forms

I had found over time that assassination was rather easy. Of course I was biased. I had been training in the ways to kill since I was… five was it? Yes five sounded right. Since then I was Hardstone’s favorite weapon. I nock an arrow into my bow. Pull back the string. Aim. Let go. And that’s all it takes to end a life. The Lord of Maple goes down with an arrow through his throat. It’s too easy really. I leap down blending in to the crowd, pulling up my hood. I heard voices raise from the mostly empty ally the Lord fell in. Some walk into the direction out of curiosity, most continue on minding their own business.  To busy with their lives to realize one had fallen to their death so close by. I meet with my overseer at the docks. People come as go from ships as storm clouds begin to roll in. I had taken much time, and effort to put together a disguise worthy at the town of Maple. It would have been nice if my overseer had put in a bit of effort as well. Instead he were the all black uniform all the Hardstone criminals were. Unmarked in any way of course, they weren’t stupid, but still standing out with all the colorful clothes around us. I figured we wouldn’t be here long and it wasn’t as if anyone here would most likely recognize such a uniform, or think to ask us to show our wrists. The Hardstone’s were a legend, and I was there ghost.
