Chapter 30:
Crimson Power Black Feather
The workday was almost over, and there was still no word from Yoshio. Sora glanced at her phone for what felt like the millionth time, sighing in frustration. She heard Mel turning her chair.
"Hey, you are sighing half of the day today. Don't tell me one of your favorite characters died in some yaoi or something."
"No, it's not that, thank god!" Sora turned too, "I was just thinking why Adachi-san has not sent me a message of whether he will take me home today or not!"
"OMG you are still thinking about him? I think he totally ditched you, yesterday, so it was kind of clear to me, no?»
"No, Mel, you don't understand... Anyway, I will call him myself, and ask after work."
"Wow, you are way more persistent this time around. Usually, you just give up on them, if they don't contact you." Mel narrowed her eyes, "Do you really like him that much after seeing him, like, two times?"
"I told you, it's a bit more complicated than that! And yes, I do think that he is special..." In that, he is a powerful creature, who can do cool shit! Who would want to lose that kind of acquaintance? Sora put her hair up in a bun. "It's becoming quite warm these days..."
"Indeed, summer is not that far away!" Mel turned back to her computer and started typing, "Whatever, I will let you distract me from the main topic of conversation this time. But if he ditches you today, you might need to consider it more carefully."
"Yes, yes. I know. I will." Sora walked out, her finger pressing the "call" button. Mel chuckled.
Himari looked up, murmuring quietly, "That woman...she’s something."
However, Sora was already in the corridor, calling Adachi-san, nervous. There were two beeps, three, four. She almost gave up on him, when he picked up.
"Yes?" His tone was aloof, as she would have expected. However, the voice seemed a bit hoarse.
"Oh, hi, Adachi-san. I was wondering, given that it is the end of the day, will you be, well, coming today to pick me up?" Her hand clenched into the fist.
"Yes. I did not text you anything saying I wouldn't, so yes."
"Uh, oh true, well, okay then, ha-ha. See you in a bit?"
"Aha."
He hung up, but Sora did not care, all she was excited about was that he would come, and she would spend more time with a yokai, finally. The smile on her face looked evil, as she debated inwardly whether they should eat ramen, or something else. Consumed in her thoughts, she decisively turned around, almost stumbling onto Professor Oshiro, who seemed to be walking past her.
"Oh, it's you, Professor Oshiro, I am so sorry!" She bowed apologetically.
"Stop this, nothing happened, you did not see me, it's definitely me who should apologize, Sora-chan!" He smiled, bowing slowly in return.
She jumped, waving her hands, "Wait, stop this, Professor Oshiro, it's okay, as you said, just a coincidence, ha-ha, no need!"
"Indeed, well, have a nice evening, Sora-chan!" As he was speaking, he looked like a main love interest in an otome game. His skin was perfect, as was his smile. There should have been roses and sparkles around him every time he opened his mouth, she thought. He touched his frames slightly and left. While she returned to her office too.
"Well, how did it go?" Mel smirked.
"Mel, he will come today! And I almost bumped into Oshiro-san! He was like oh, he is just magical!"
"Oh my god, you are such a Hachi!" Mel laughed.
"No I am not! I like Nana more!!" Sora looked offended.
"Yes yes. We are leaving with Himari, so ask Sobue to come with you to meet your baldy this time, okay?"
"Oh, I will. Wait, where are you two going? Is it something cool and romantic lesbian thing?"
She looked exactly like Hachi to Mel, when she got so excited.
Himari stood up, "Indeed, we are going to one of the most female-oriented activities out there. Yoga."
"Huh?" Sora looked confused, "you? Yoga? I mean I guess..."
"What? Do you think we can not handle it?" Himari squinted.
"Ha-ha, no, it's not what I said!" Sora waved her arms, "I did not expect that from you, that's all. "
"Anyway, we are going, now." Himari looked at Mel, eyebrows raised.
"Yes! We are," Mel turned off her computer, collecting her things in a hurry, "sorry, no time to spare, Sora, good luck!"
"Thanks." Sora collected her stuff too, rushing to catch Sobue before he left.
It was not yet six, however, he was not there. Weird, she thought, he had never left before the It was not yet six, however, he was not there. Weird, she thought, he had never left before the end of the workday. And during lunch, she did not have a chance to ask him what happened yesterday with his girlfriend... He seemed a bit off today. She sent him a quick message to check if everything was okay and if he needed anything.
With no one else to meet Yoshio today, she would have him all to herself. This realization made her very happy, and she hurried to leave the building.
