#076 Cat and Dog

When Cat first met Dog, Dog had been full of hope and excitement; all the things Cat hates. But now that Dog has given up, Cat misses her endless optimism.

Dog has curled up in a ditch, her golden blonde coat now muddy with dirt, the confidence that her family would come back long gone.

“What’s the plan now, big shot?” Cat asks in a half-hearted taunt.

Dog solemnly responds: ‘I want to go home…’

Cat curls up besides Dog. ‘We’ll find you a home or we’ll make one.’ Even Cat knows you don’t kick a dog when she’s down.
