Chapter 40:

Phone call

Crimson Power Black Feather

He answered almost immediately, his voice calm, as always. Sora felt a bit nervous talking to him like this.

"Hi, Adachi-san, I wanted to ask you for help. Sobue is not replying to my messages and calls. I wanted to propose maybe go to his house and check…"

Yoshio remained silent for a moment, then said, "No need, I can just teleport there, and check myself in a moment. Wait."

"Wait what? But…"

"I am in front of his door."

She slapped a hand on her head: that’s not what she planned!

"So, call the door then, I guess…" She felt disappointed.

"Already did, he is not responding."

She heard him say "I will come in in a second, so you better open up!"

He then returned to speaking on the phone, "I will teleport inside and investigate if you allow me."

"Oh," Sora hesitated, "Maybe it’s a good idea. I mean I would consider it transposing…But then maybe it’ll save his life so…"

"Okay, I am coming in then." Silence, "I am in, and it seems he is not here. Everything is in place," pause, "his phone nowhere to be seen. The suitcase is still here. I think he did not leave to travel."

"What happened, I wonder?"

"Maybe we should wait a day, and see tomorrow if he turns up at work?"

"I hope he does...well, thank you, Adachi-san!"

"Shall I return home now?"

"I guess..."

There was a pause. "Well, see you tomorrow?"

"Wait!" Sora figured she still could talk to him on the phone, "Em...Are you busy?"

"Not really, I was planning to eat."

"Did Okamura cook?"

"Yep, but I already had dinner, I will eat pudding now."

"Oh, I see... Em, you never told me where you live!"

"In a temple," she heard him eating.

"Oh wow! In Tokyo?"

"On the mountain not too far away from Tokyo."

"Oh, is it hidden or something?"

"I guess. It's not visible to humans. But it's also in a location where not many people could get to."

"Fascinating, Adachi-san. I want to see it now!"

"Really?" He seemed surprised, he thought about something for a moment. "Why?"

"Well, it's the place where you live. And since it's secretive, I want to see it even more! And also, you have seen my place, so..." she smiled mischievously, "it's only fair that I get to see yours!"

"Well," he paused again, and Sora held her breath in anticipation, "Maybe I can show it to you then."

"Now?" She almost jumped in excitement.

"You have time now?"

"Yes, but..." she looked down at her pajamas, and her eyes widened, "well, maybe in 15 minutes?"

"Oh, I see. I can do that."

"AAA really?"

"Well, yes. There is nothing worth such excitement, though, I think you'll find it boring anyway..."

"Oh, Adachi-san, trust me, I won't!!! Please come in fifteen."

"Okay. I hung up now."

"Yep, see you!"

She ran towards her wardrobe, taking out some clothes, looking at them, lost.

Oh why, why do I have no outfits prepared?

Eventually, she chose dark jeans, a pink long-sleeve, and then put a khaki-green corset over it.

She picked a pink bow and put it in her hair. Looking in the mirror, she was satisfied. Twelve minutes had already passed, so what was left was to wait for Yoshio to appear. She looked at her phone, restless.

After exactly fifteen minutes had passed, she heard her doorbell ringing.

Sora jumped, and ran toward the door, slamming it open. Yoshio looked at her, eyes wide.

"That was fast..."

She laughed nervously, "Well, I really want to see your temple!"

"Okay, shall we?" Yoshio noticed her clothes, thinking that this was the first time she wore so much colour. It suited her, and her red, wavy hair looked nice too.
