When Damien Hovis gets an opportunity for a free of charge mansion all for himself his first thought is “damn this will cut into my gaming time”. Although he's from an affluent enough family he knows it's an impassable chance and so he finds himself shipped to the middle of nowhere, house sitting an unreasonably big house that once belonged to his grandparents.

There's two crows on a wire across the yard. He feels the pair’s eyes on his back as he unlocks the ancient, empty house.

He's projected to be spending the rest of the year here. Grandpa being the emotional sack of bones he is, felt someone should take care of grandma’s last resting place. Something about feeling close to her. Something about him feeling his last days are near. Not that it surprises Damian, grandpa had already been ancient back when Damian met him. On his sixth birthday grandpa had given him a newly released Nintendo 3DS.

He jingles the keychain all the way to the generator. His mom's printed out instructions and two heavily accented youtube tutorials get him and the house lit up with energy.

That's all that matters, he thinks, lugging his luggage all the way to the nicest, comfiest, most having at least two electric outlets room. His absolute necessities pretty much fly out of his luggage and settle into a lurid dusty table.

A VR console, his goggles and the proud second runner for most hyped game in his favorite niche forum, Silent Witness Enigma. The game where Damian’s newest obsession lives in. And tonight he'll see her die.
