Chapter 12:
Streamer Royale
Kumi peeked up out of a manhole cover before sending the cover flying into the sky with a burst of lightning.
"What happened to stealth?" Nika grumbled.
"Uh, we're blasting the whole city to bits, so no need to be covert. Now, take cover," Kumi grinned as she flew into the sky and brought a block of lightning down on the entire city, frying everything insight. Only the underground area where the others were was spared.
"Alright, you can come out now!"
As everyone emerged, Leona and Madoka recoiled in shock, while Iori stared in awe. The town was completely gone, with a few charred buildings remaining.
Nika meanwhile facepalmed as she knew this would happen. "And now what do we do?"
"Uh, you said Grizzlar was here, so I guess we fry him if I didn't already," Kumi shrugged as she retuned to the ground.
"Who is this Grizzlar?" Leona asked.
Nika explained that Kody Grizzlar was a giant polar bear that was CEO of Grizzlar industries, a company that sought to harvest every last fish in order for Grizzlar to eat them."
"Yeesh, sounds kind of like that evil manatee guy from Maroon that makes you collect platinum chicken eggs."
"The question is where that bear is."
"RIGHT BEHIND YOU!" a voice growled.
Everyone turned to see a figure in a charred cloak standing atop the remains of city hall. The figure threw the cloak off to reveal himself to be none other than Kody Grizzlar.
"Wow, he really is a giant polar bear," Leona nodded as Grizzlar brandished an axe.
"Sit tight and watch me speedrun him!" Kumi grinned as she balsted towards Grizzlar.
However, Grizzlar turned into water and blasted away. Before Kumi could give chase though, a giant robot fish suddenly burst out of the ground. Kumi effortlessly fried it, but Grizzlar had long since escaped.
"Well I don't exactly blame the bear for escaping. This was completely unwinnable for him," Madoka sighed as Kumi returned.
"Welp, now what do we do?" Iori asked.
The group began to ponder and decided to continue exploring.
"Grizzlar might still be nearby too. This town borders a river, right? then he's probably got a fishing rig set up somewhere," Nika noted.
...
Harumi and Cindy's muffled protests rang out as Sakura carried the two on her back.
"It really is incredible that you can carry those two by yourself," Nina nodded.
"Well, trees can support a ton of weight, you just gotta distribute it right."
"So how exactly does your power work?"
"Well, I designated my default form as human, but I can still summon roots and branches at will. I can't fully turn into a tree ever again, but who cares, this is way better. Besides, I still get the photosynthesis perk and I can breath in more carbon and breath out more oxygen, making things greener for humans."
"Wow, you're more amazing than I thought."
Even Harumi seemed to agree as well. Cindy on the other hand was still too focused on trying to pick a fight with Harumi.
As the girls approached a clearing, they spotted a cart being pulled by an alien in a farmers hat riding atop a cow.
"Hey! Wanna buy some of my patented Vernejule milk?" the alien called out.
Everyone stared in confusion.
"Uh, name's Vernejule, and I'm an alien that got isekaid here after a botched rescue mission. Now I'm a farmer." the alien grinned.
The awkward silence remained.
"The milk's really good, I promise!"
"Could it get these two out of their muddy shells?" Sakura asked as she plopped Harumi and Cindy down.
Vernejule examined the two for a bit before shrugging and zapping the two with his laser gun.
"THE HELL ARE YOU DOING!?"
"Hmm, this stuff really is tough. Probably gonna need some magic. Now what's the incantation... Got it! Avocado baldius dough decahedron!"
Hexagons made of magical energy suddenly appeared and encased Cindy and Harumi before dispelling the mud surrounding them.
"Wow, even gave my hair a cleansing too. Talk about convenient." Harumi smiled as she flicked her hair.
Cindy wasted no time in launching an attack on Harumi.
"Oh come on, we just got out of the mud!"
"You got us all sticky in the first place!"
"Why should you care? You're bald!"
"And all the more sensitive to having icky sticky mud encasing me!"
Sakura and Nina watched in annoyance while Vernjule watched in excitement and even began cheering the two on.
"Looks like I've got some work to do," Sakura sighed as she cracked her knuckles.
