Chapter 32:
I Know You Can't Write!
I was sat on my heels with my fists on my knees, my head cast towards the floor. I subconsciously was trying to make myself as small as possible I think.
Did I do something wrong though!? No!
Fujioka was seated before me, legs crossed, and an ice cold piercing gaze. The air around her was dropping so rapidly in temperature that frost was creeping across the table.
Oh, and Akimoto was absolutely tuned out. She took this opportunity to dote on the girl that came looking for me. It was a situation that caused many of my braincells to rapidly shorten their lifespans.
Nao Yoshika, by the way, was the one who came searching for me. She's the one usually pestering Sato and Takechi.
Supposedly the reason Fujioka is mad at me is Yoshika… However the issue is, I have no clue what she wants with me either!
“Makoto-kun… You really are something. A black haired beauty and dumb blonde girl aren’t enough to satiate your hunger… You had to go after a junior?”
Fujioka’s eyebrow was actively twitching as she said this. I think this is one of those times where I don’t test her.
“You two are enough! I mean no! You two are uh— It’s not like that with Yoshika-san!”
Akimoto stopped poking at Yoshika's cheeks and shifted towards us.
“How do you know Yoshi-chan anyway?”
“She’s close with Tackechi from our class. I don’t know her at all.”
A cat-like grin spread across the blonde devil’s face as she spun back around to Yoshika.
“Ahh~ Yoshi-chan you’re going after Takechi-kun?” She pinched her cheeks. “You’re quite bold aren’t you…”
“En— Ah— Mm— E-enough!” Yoshika broke away from Akimoto. “I don’t know w-what kind of weird stuff is going on, but I just n-need to talk to K-Kiyotaka-senpai.”
“Then talk away. The floor is yours.” Fujioka gestured with her hand.
“...”
“Is the thing you need to talk about perhaps… A confession?”
“No way! I barely know Kiyotaka-senpai!”
“Hm. A lovestruck liar I see…”
“I am not!”
After making her declaration, she stormed up to me and forcefully took my hand—dragging me out of the clubroom before Fujioka could react.
“H-hey! W-what’s going on?” I asked.
“I just need to ask you a question…”
“...Just a question?”
“Yes.”
We stood fairly far away from the clubroom, around a corner by a stairwell.
“It’s— It’s about Takechi-senpai.”
Yoshika seemed to have a real struggle admitting this.
“I don’t necessarily know too much about him anymore… Are you sure I’m the right person to ask?”
“Y-yes…”
Yoshika furled her fingers around the hem of her skirt. Why’s she acting so serious? Did something happen I should’ve been aware about? I suppose I don’t keep up with Takechi much anymore. He’s still a nice guy, reliable and all, just drifted apart.
“Kiyotaka-senpai… Why did Sato-senpai invite you to lunch with him and Takechi-senpai!?”
“Wha?”
I blinked a few times—what is she talking about?
“A few days ago! I saw Sato-senpai talk to you, then you followed him and ate lunch with Takechi-senpai!”
“...You were following us?”
“T-t-that’s not the point!”
Seems like an important point to me! This girl is really something… She’s like your typical cute junior but I feel something more… sinister… lurking under the surface. That blushing face is fooling no one!
Also, I never mentioned eating lunch with those two guys because it was honestly uneventful and a little awkward. The whole time they avoided eye-contact and only spoke through me.
“We’re getting off topic. Why’d he invite you and not me!”
“How am I supposed to answer that…?”
“Truthfully of course!”
“...?”
“Don’t look at me like that. Answer!”
“You’re overthinking it, Yoshika-san. They invited me because I’ve known them for a long time.”
“I won’t accept that!” She huffed.
“Listen, I don’t have time to accept some side-quest. I have a project I’m working on.”
“A “side-quest”? Please don’t use your gross gamer language with me senpai.”
I gave her a blank stare before turning-heel—I have writing to do, I’m wasting important time here.
“Hey! Wait up!”
Despite me obviously attempting to end the conversation, the relentless junior jogged to catch up with me.
“Here’s the deal, senpai.”
“No— there’s no “deal”. I have work to do.”
“The deal is next time they invite you to something, suggest I come along.”
She ignored me completely…
“Why would I do that…?”
“Because Takechi-senpai wants to hangout with me but he’s too nervous to invite me. Obviously.”
“Yeah… Forsure.”
For the first time in my life I feel like I’m not the densest object on Earth.
“So you’ll invite me?” Her eyes grew wide and shimmered.
“Haa~ I don’t know… I’m not sure they’ll invite me anymore. I feel like it was more of a one time thing.”
We reached the clubroom and as I was reached out to slide open the door Yoshika tugged on my sleeve. There’s no way she still thinks we have business with each other!
“J-just… think about it… Okay?”
“Nope.”
In one swift motion I slid through a small gap in the door and shut it hard behind me. I’ll say it again, I do not need a side quest right now. The main one is more than enough.
As I sighed a breath of relief I was forced against the wall in a suprise kabedon by a one hundred eighty-one centimeter mass of fury.
“AH! Hey!”
I yelped in a very manly manner… of course. Why would I be scared? It’s not like she has almost thirteen centimeters on me.
“Seriously? “Just think about?” You’re leading on this poor homewrecker.”
“Why is everyone a homewrecker to you!?”
