Chapter 1:

#1: Dangerous Connections

Fragments of Eternity

The sun was setting over Rio de Janeiro, dyeing the sky orange and purple. Lara was in her small apartment, surrounded by glowing screens and equipment she had assembled herself. Music played in the background, but her attention was on the lines of code running across the screen.

“Another day, another Hack,” she muttered, with a determined smile on her lips.

Meanwhile, Dante was getting ready for yet another elite event, surrounded by friends who lived in a completely different world. The life he led seemed perfect, but something was bothering him.

“Dude, are you okay?” asked Rafael, his best friend, pulling him into the conversation.

“Yeah, just thinking…” Dante replied, looking out the window at the horizon. “Do you think there’s something more behind Project Aurora?”

Rafael laughed, unconcerned.

“Oh, come on! It’s just advanced technology, bro.” The guys up there know what they're doing. You can't change the world, you just have to accept it.

Dante frowned.

“But what if that's not all? What if it's a way for them to perpetuate themselves? You can't ignore it.”

Night fell, and Lara, now hooded, blended into the city's hustle and bustle, heading to an event that promised valuable secrets. She knew the information she was looking for was well-kept among the elites.

“I'll get this, no matter what,” she whispered to herself, adjusting her hood to hide her face.

Dante, on the other hand, found himself surrounded by smiles and superficial conversations.

“You're very thoughtful today,” a young woman next to him commented, leaning closer. “Something on your mind?”

“Yeah… I'm just thinking about the project situation.” He hesitated. “What if it's not everything we were told?”

She smiled, but his expression surprised her.

— You're always so serious. How about a drink to relax?

Dante agreed, but distraction wasn't what he wanted. He wanted to understand what was really going on.

At the event, Lara infiltrated herself, avoiding glances and drawing attention, her mind focused on getting the information that would change everything.

— It's now or never — she said, almost in a whisper, as she approached a group discussing the project.

Across the room, Dante felt a chill on the back of his neck. Something in the atmosphere seemed different. The music and laughter were a backdrop to the uneasiness that consumed him.

— I need to find out the truth — he murmured, deciding that tonight would be more than just a social event.

And so, Lara and Dante's destinies began to intertwine, without either of them knowing how much their lives were about to change.
