A HERO

It's the year 2090. Society currently lives under a strict regime run by a powerful Council. Citizens must pay taxes, which include protection from active crime and custody of newborn children.

One day, on a trip to the city museum, Ton Fujimoto and his classmates find themselves in the middle of a robbery. He tries to protect his sister but is sent crashing into the statue of a renowned scientist.

A mini-bot emerges from the statue's rubble and injects Ton with some sort of serum, saving his life. Many weeks later, Ton discovers that he has the power to create portals and travel to many different places.

He goes out one night to practise his new abilities when he stumbles upon police officers being attacked by thugs. He jumps in and fights the thugs off. But the officers tried to arrest Ton, even though he had saved them.

After fleeing the scene, he felt good about saving the officers and thought that maybe the city could use more of that sort of thing. "This...heroing."
