When reading Apocalypse Punk, the main highlight and selling point of it is it's first-person narrative, narrated by the protagonist herself, Vanessa Walker. Vanessa is easily the highlight of this work for me as her dialogue and personality truly make her stand out. The supporting cast is good as well with the world being highly immersive and full of mystery.
Perhaps my only critique would be the novel's length. The story is clearly more of a slow-build-up type one with potential to expand into a greater series. As a 1st volume, it's good, but as a complete story it still leaves a lot to be desired. Since the former appears to be the case, I feel it's unfair to judge the work as if it were a truly completed one. As such, based on what I've read, I can happily say Apocalypse Punk was a gripping read, and I would most certainly pick up volume 2 if it were written.
