A solid space opera

The World Doesn't Change So Easily is very fittingly named. The world doesn't change so easily as showcased in this novel. Philosophical teachings along with Amongus-like tension make this story an engaging read. The beginning is a bit slow, but once the crew gets to space, things get real. I was unable to put the novel down as I binged through it, eagerly reading to see how things would play out. And I have to say, it was worth the read. The highlight is easily the characters with their diverse personalities and backgrounds. One character in particular has such an amazing backstory, I believe they even surpass the main protagonist in terms of writing.

However, there are some critiques. The notable one is towards the end where the chapters become very summary heavy, disrupting the immersion. Had the summaries been better woven in, and/or not been so bloated, I wouldn't have taken up much issue. But that also brings to light that the final phase of the story, does feel like it's weakest part. The beginning was solid, the middle was amazing, but the ending was kind of meh, but don't get me wrong, the ending does have some shining spots, notably main character, Brigham's internal struggles. Despite the novel's summary-heavy ending, it is still a solid read, and I'd highly recommend it if you're into space operas.
