To keep it short and sweet without delving too much into spoilers, the world in this novel is very dark and gritty, with scenes full of tension that will demand your full attention. The biggest issue facing this novel in my opinion is some of the grammar and formatting choices the author went with which at times ruin the immersion. One thing I found excessively repetitive was the constant need to remind readers at the start of nearly every chapter of the fact that a character still has the mind of a young child despite their body aging. Speaking of chapters, readers be warned that they are long, so you might want to plan ahead to set some time aside before binge reading. Overall, I'd say the novel is solid, but with room for improvement.
