Synopsis

When the divine is absent science elevates. Technology is deified.

In the late 21st century, humanity entered the unknown, its first dark age. Civilization shattered leaving survival to isolated Corpus Towns. Still bound by its advanced technology, society survived indentured employment to the Corpus and faithful maintenance by the Basilica.

Valeria Lacerius works as a Courier, people willing to separate from the network and travel between towns. It’s a simple job; deliver the goods, don’t keep attachments and loyalty to the Corpus. She isn’t fond of the ‘no attachments’. As a Courier, a new world of irresistible mystery awaited her.

Her arrival in Coulen, a town deep in the Orthodox of the Basilica, holds wonder, but also a dark secret. Faith and fear rule the people. Curiosity brings her to confront where science and faith blur as one. Unwilling to turn away, she must learn the truth that’s causing cybernetics to rampage before it’s too late.

The story takes place in a new alternative history of time I call a "techno dark age" where the loss of understanding of technology, but reliance on it to survive has lead to a fanatical and religious belief in that which sustains them.
