A journalist abruptly quits his job. Two months later, a girl's diary is found in his former desk. Mildred, the newspaper's intern, says the diary is hers and takes it home. In fact, it belongs to a friend of hers who has been missing since she went hiking in June. Mildred needs to figure out how her boss got her friend's diary, before the police does.
