With the Freaks constantly threatening the city walls, those who can harness power—whether through magic or brute force—are the most revered citizens. They are the protectors of the last human kingdom. The others? Not so important.

Under these conditions, two friends must fight for their right to live. When the Freaks' jaws draw near, and the kingdom's claws threaten to tear them apart, will they survive or succumb to darkness? Will they stay together, or be conquered by the kingdom’s will?
