An unpolished gemstone [Spoilers]

This review contains some spoilers. With a great hook at the beginning, the story keeps you at the edge of your seat, eager to see what happens next. That is until the story decides to shift into happy slice-of-life flashback mode and give unnecessary large amounts of focus to some pretty cringe and unlikable characters. The action does pick back up, and while the next act is better than the one before it, there are still some notable flaws, particularly a certain character's completely unexplained personality change.

The final act is good, and even introduced a likable new character, while simultaneously excluding all the cringe ones. However, that brought to issue the point of some of these characters and why there was even such a large focus on them when their roles amounted to nothing. While this may be a bloated story, it does have a good beginning and end. The problem is that the story is often times bloated with filler which can make reading through a pain, especially when said filler focuses too much on the cringe and unnecessary side characters. The story does have the workings of something great, however in it's current state, it's still far unpolished from what it ultimately could be.
