The world as we know it is changing. Pollution destroyed the Earth 500 years ago. A large group of people flew to Mars before it was too late, but they couldn't make it habitable.
1441 is now one of the few humans left alive. He has no mission and no goal to speak of. He just wants to look back on his life and feel it was worth it. But can he do that with only one year left? Maybe the fact that Martian years are longer will play in his favor, or maybe it will just welcome more misfortune.
"The end is now" is the principle that shapes the world he lives in.
[The End is Now] My shot at the new contest. I did not have in plan to write this novel in the immediate future, but this opportunity came out of nowhere. I feel like it fits the theme well while also giving it a twist. Just some adjustments here and there and here it is. Much earlier than I was planning to write about our mysterious "No. 1441".
A lesson I should learn after writing this story is to spread out the plot a little better so I can get rid of dead chapters. Oh well, this one story could have been stretched for another 50 chapters with all the background I had built, but for now I hope you will enjoy our short time spent on Mars.
