The side characters are entertaining as well, especially the heroine's adorable elder brother and the hero's best friend. I liked the redemption arc of the bullies who make the heroine's life hell in the first place; Jade's method of dealing with them is interesting. It reminds us that mere strong character, personality and straightforwardness can be more powerful than magic or brute force.
