Gritty and Engaging

I will start off by saying that the plot, the story, and the characters hooked me from start to finish. Makishi does a great job of setting up the gritty setting everything takes place in, and everything that inhabits it makes the entire city feel dark, depressing, but absolutely alive and struggling. There's something about the realism to things that helps elevate the stakes so much more, and there's a real investment in the plot's impact on the world.

While at times there were some confusing things such as perspective, how much time had passed, and what was dialogue vs internal thought, everything flowed well enough together that the picture this story painted always remained intact and keeping me coming back for more. My only other wish is that it expanded upon some events a little more as sometimes certain things felt a tiny bit rushed.

Overall, a wonderfully good read!
