A drastic tonal shift from the beloved original

As some of you might know, I hold the original Grace in high regards, giving it a 5/5 in my review. Grace Moves Mountains is billed as the sequel to that one-of-a-kind story, however it fails to stand on the same peak as it. The main problem lies with the massive genre and tonal shifts from the first one. Grace 1 is a slice-of-life romcom. Grace 2 is a yakuza action drama. There are old characters that return from Grace 1 such as Haru, Megu, and of course, Grace herself, but aside from some new lore on Grace's backstory, this really feels more like an alt-timeline spin-off than a proper sequel to Grace 1. That being said, the fight scenes are choreographed really well and the prose is good as always. Even if you are a huge fan of the original like me and might not be a fan of the new tonal shifts in Grace 2, I'd still recommend giving this a read just to see how you feel about it in it's entirety.
