The universe is cold and unflinching. We are merely pawns in this great cosmic game.
This is the belief held by the Idle Thought, a religious movement who believes that salvation from this unflinching world was death itself. Their end goal was to awaken the slumbering God-Guardian of the Earth, the High Chimera so it may rid the world of its suffering. For a time Wren believed in their cause but he soon realized that he would no longer let his fate be decided by a mask and a theory.
If he was to live, the Idle Thought must perish. This is where Wrens story begins, he must do whatever he can to prevent the time of the Great Upheaval and he must find help anywhere he can lest his mission be in vain.
This has been a passion project of mine for a few years having started back during my Freshman year of Highschool during the COVID-19 lockdown. I am now a Sophomore (Almost a Junior!) in College. This story delves into the topics of Religious Extremism and Religious Trauma, as well other topics such as the effects of War and the idea of Existentialism. Maybe I have too much time on my hands to craft such a profoundly interesting story and maybe somebody will find it interesting.
