To take care of his sick sister, Kenji works in a post-apocalyptic world torn by war, where most of the population has developed superhuman abilities. Amid extreme measures, he discovers hidden powers and a unique chance to save his only living relative. Alongside friends he makes along the way, he embarks on this dangerous journey—yet he has no idea of the extreme dangers that await him. The path he chose is filled with pain and suffering, all so that in the end, he might have the chance to see his sister's joyful smile once more.
This chapter was more peaceful, but it carries the weight of the world in which the story takes place. I wanted to show how Kenji lives among the ruins of the past and the harshness of the present, always fighting in silence.
Gokayama still bears the scars of the war, and even so, there are small moments of light — like the smile of the girl who received the apple. These details show that, despite everything, hope still exists.
