Synopsis

Haunted by a past he cannot change and a future he's too afraid to hope for,
Kaoru Kurokawa returns to his hometown for high school, accompanied only by his mute younger sister — choosing a life apart from their distant parents.
Burdened by guilt and the remnants of fractured family ties, the siblings lean on each other—each a refuge for their mutual scars.

During the fateful summer of his junior year, a chance encounter with a peculiar classmate draws Kaoru into a series of inexplicable events — and into the orbit of the mysteriously detached beauty, who seems to carry secrets that defy the bounds of reality itself.

As unseen hands begin pulling at the threads of their fates, Kaoru and his classmate must confront the ghosts of their pasts—and the haunting cost of challenging what lies beyond.

Note from author

The Summer I Died is my first light novel- a standalone brought to life from the continuation of a hobby project of shorts I used to be working on.
It's meant to be a tender, bittersweet coming-of-age tale — a story born from love and loss, a journey of healing, and the invisible ties that exist across worlds.
Admittedly, I have little knowledge of what it takes to write an excellent novel, but I've always been dedicated to giving the "right" voice to my characters and I hope that shows in my writing.
Feel free to point out any concerns or discuss anything about the story with me.
Thank you for taking the time to read my work!
