Synopsis

The world is rotten. It was in my previous life. Still is in this one.

Suits change. Titles too. But the monsters are the same: men with power, rehearsed smiles, and bloodstained hands no one sees. I made sure they did see it.

Never missed a throw. Never left a name. Just a white ceramic knife.

Then I died, in the most ridiculous way possible.

And woke up in a new world. Of magic. Swords. Knights.

Also rotten.

I knew when I saw a child with a rope around his neck for stealing bread. I was sure when the nobles applauded executions like fireworks.

This world doesn't need a hero. No chosen one in a cape or a mage with a divine mission.

It needs someone who knows where it hurts. And whose hands don't tremble.

Note from author

Dear reader,

Thank you, genuinely, for dedicating a part of your time to reading my work. Your support means the world to me.

Publishing this novel won't follow a steady compass. You can expect a minimum of one Chapter a week, and a maximum of two. Around the one fourth of the book, you may notice a slowdown in publishing, as I won’t continue to releasing chapters until the story is complete, and it satisfies my quality standards. The middle part is the most crucial for cohesion and engagement. It's in essence, what differentiates novels that are great, from great novels. More often than not, it needs to be redone entirely. Hopefully this time around, just once.

All encouragement and feedback helps me keep pushing forward. Knowing there's people out there enjoying the journey, motivates me to finish the story with care, love and not too much wait. Thanks again. For reading, for sharing, and submerging in this strange world I’m building.

Much love,

Mauri.
