Midori Hinode has never belonged.

Born in Japan as a woman of mixed race she has spent her life being some kind of exotic attraction, at best, but most commonly has simply been looked at as an outsider. While spending time with childhood friends one day the last thing she expected was to be whisked away to another world, let alone one where she is separated from those friends and thrust into danger. She quickly meets a brash young man named Rune who proclaims himself not only as a future Khan but also...her husband!?

With Rune's help Midori sets out with the hope of reuniting with her friends and to find a way back home, but quickly learns that in order to do that she'll have to help fend off an invasion and dethrone a Khan first. And in the process realizes that she might not actually want to go back home.
