In 'My Salaryman Familiar', the author creates a world where everything turns around memories, that can be created, corrupted, exchanged, stolen, seen, felt, that can shape reality, that can influence life. I really liked the setting and the choices made for the magic system, as well as some of the descriptions and narrative choices, that truly managed to let me immerse in the story and share the thoughts of the two protagonists.
Speaking of the latter, I really came to appreciate them - Izhari with her rage issues and sharp edges, Tomita with his depression and exhausted salaryman's abilities, both capable of incredible gentleness - and I loved their character development.
As a slow pace lover, I would have liked to have more time to explore their relationship, because at times what was happening between them felt really sudden, as well as a deeper dive into Mathael's thoughts and beliefs, but I also understand that the word count limit and submission time period were what they were. Maybe food for thoughts for a next installment?
In any case, despite this not being my type of story, despite me not even really liking romance and survival as genres, it truly managed to get me engaged and make me look forward to the later chapters. Very good job! I will be curious to read a future continuation!
