A timely Isekai

In what is certainly my favorite of the author's works, TaTa is a really great reminder that not all rules need to be broken to write an enjoyable piece.
The book has a relataively by the numbers plot & characters for an isekai, and never strays particularly far from that, instead executing on the familiar excellently.

The plot follows a well paced journey across a land that, while not unique, feels fun to move through; locations with a variety that makes each one memorable and enough detail to be fun to visit.
In the same manner the cast are all highly likeable, each distinct from one another with their own quirks and personalities.

The novel cruxes around its leads duo, telling a familiar story about that washed up officer worker given another chance at life with a catch - and it tells that story very earnestly and competently with a great sense of wit as bonus. The added, almost 'meta' aspect of repeating time, the protagonists secondry power of sorts, gives it an interesting layor - all the isekai the 2010s-2020s have graced us with, so many stories of young people trying again - Gideon embodies that in a rather fun way.
His arc is also paralleled with the heroine Roze, someone not reaching her full potintial in life. While I don't find her arc as cohesive as Gideons, combined the two have a strong chemistry and a solid back and fourth that makes them enjoyable to follow.

My main caviot would be that the story could be longer, a few areas I find improtant would benefit from a little more flesh - but such a complaint is one I oft think isn't so bad - it is better to leave the reader wanting more, then to overstay your welcome😉💪.

Thematically the novel has clear and concise messages. The idea of better yourself, of maturing through repeated trail and error and of finding meaning even if life is ultimately futile (as most conveyed through Gideon learning to try anyway even if this life will be no more fruitful then his last in a manner of speaking) are strong messages to convey and give a solid depth to Gideon in particular as protagonist.

All told TaTa is a novel that reminds us that would solid execution, polished prose, pacing and a fun sense of humour, can create a very engaging and enjoyable tale without having to smash all the conventions.
I'd be exceptionally intruged to see how a sequel would take such a story and had a great time reading it - Would recommend💖❤️💖🔥.
