A man known for obsessively playing the niche RPG The Tears of Nephelai finds himself reincarnated inside the very game he loves - but not as the Hero! He’s become a non-player character named Talon, an NPC village girl tucked away in a small town.
Now living as “Village Girl A”, Talon takes things slow. But when the Hero unexpectedly visits Talon's house, she quickly finds out that the Hero’s presence forces her to abide by the rules of the game. Talon remains helpless as the Hero steals her items - including a precious keepsake from her previous life.
Angry at her powerlessness, Talon takes her chickens - as well as an exasperated village boy NPC named Reuben - and decides to use the knowledge of the game against the Hero. She’ll defeat the bosses, clear quests, and snatch every treasure, all before the Hero can!
To reclaim her keepsake, she’ll become the final boss, the Demon King, and make the Hero feel the effects of “Village Girl A’s” reign of terror!

I love turn-based RPGs. Most have this underlying sense of whimsy and wonder that's really enhanced by small characters like NPC villagers. It's these miscellaneous, entirely optional interactions that I really value, because they help establish the world and give a sense of life to the setting. I've always enjoyed unexpected perspectives!
This novel aims to provide a lighthearted and engaging story from the perspective of characters who, in the grand scheme of things, aren't supposed to affect the world they live in, but still very much live in it.
This story spoofs RPG mechanics and is overall goofy, but sometimes, I think something wacky like that is pretty great too.
