I have to admit. I got invested waaaaaaaaaaaay more than I thought. If you're someone who checked the reviews to see an objective and technical view of this particular story before deciding to pick this up, I have to apologize.
When I picked this up out of the goodness of my heart (of course not, all hail read trades), I thought that I'm in for the usual romance story that had isekai as its main premise. Again, I have to admit. I don't read much romance stories. So, my expectations were VERY LOW.
But it hit me.
The characters were VERY FLAWED. I liked that. I vividly remember saying that I don't want to see the MC happy because Haru writes sadness very well. I didn't expect that I would be basically kidnapped through a journey of recovery. I had fun poking at how broken they are at the start. But the more they see the world, the more they heal, the more they find a bit of peace with each other and sometimes the people around them, the more I'm looking forward to seeing them. I am a grown-ass adult and I'm gushing whenever I see them joke around, be cheesy, and be cringy—it's literally not my style!
In this novel, I've seen two broken people navigate through the world and heal. Sure, a bunch of people died. But that's a sacrifice I'm willing to make. I get to remember that yes, isekai fulfills the self, but it doesn't always mean that you get to be stupidly op, get all the girls, etc. Sometimes, a man and a woman just needs a new start to properly fix the bitch-of-an-itch-in-their-left-ass-cheek of a broken heart.
I'll leave the technical stuff to the experts. For the experiece, I think my review is well-deserved. Go read this or I'll throw hands. Thanks, Haru.
