Every few centuries, the world of Aeresi faces a renewed cataclysm: the awakening of eight nigh immortal monsters known as Anomaly Beasts. To slay them and avert calamity, Aeresi itself grants immense power to eight champions, dubbed Inheritors.

Inheritors, then, are necessary for the preservation of the world. When one perishes, a ritual is performed to implant a soul from another world into the Inheritor’s body to retain Aeresi’s blessing.

Naturally, none of this is known to Everett, a high school boy plagued by isolation, when he wakes up in the body of a dead Inheritor. Forced to be a savior, he and the others are sent to the prestigious Fordin Academy to prepare for the next appearance of an Anomaly Beast.

As Everett begins his new life at the academy, he remains haunted by his past insecurities; however, things change when he starts to bond with the other Inheritors, namely the shy mage, Shina. Finding a new sense of purpose, Everett vows to live a life he won’t regret.
