Back in college, Maya joined an extracurricular group as a programmer dedicated to developing an indie RPG, 'Wayforge Chronicles’. They managed to release the beta, but due to internal disagreements and outside circumstances, the team’s passion faltered, and the project has remained abandoned ever since.
Now in her mid-20's, Maya is tasked to send all the files of said game to this indie company interested in her work, but couldn't resist booting it up for nostalgia’s sake. But instead of playing what she remembers in the script, the game instead bugs out and pulls her straight into the game’s world. stuck, she has to navigate all the unfinished concepts woven into its code and inevitably run into the game characters and wait- did the Graphic Designer get teleported here too?
A mix of meta commentary on RPG logic, Isekai tropes and the relatability with passion projects fizzling out due to various factors. Also reconnecting with old friends and making new memories along the way.
I’m prob not going to finish this in time lmfaaooo. i'm in way over my head, I was built for one-shots not for 55k words haiiyaaaaaa.
