'Why is this considered a boon?'

Kaede had never understood the obsession with arriving in a new world after death. If he died, he wanted to stay dead.

And he knew he could be an asshole at times. Perhaps that was all he was, really.

So it made sense that his transferral to a new world was like deliverance to hell.

The Awakening of Gods had ruined their world. So they hoped for a Hero. But all they were given was a Corpse.

Like a husk of life that barely clung onto its embers, Kaede had been bestowed with an incurable illness, a blight belonging to him alone.

Thrust onto the greatest Healer of the Kingdom, he was quickly swept under the rug and forgotten.

So began a grand dream of solace.
