What does it mean to be human?
King is a 16-year-old survivor of an apocalyptic world ending scenario. However he’s come by a shovel that allows him to dig into another world blooming with magic and life. A land where he could live again. But the threats of his world have found themselves infecting his new safe haven. The Wither consumes everything that exists.
King wants the best of both worlds; his brothers from earth, and the promising future of the other world. But his choices may lead him down a path of destruction.
If you decide to give it a read, I tried to sprinkle in all sorts of references to pop culture and memes, I wonder if you'll be able to spot them?
This is my first time writing a light novel, or rather full traditional story! This was a very last minute project, only finding out about the project midway though August. But I'm happy to say I stuck with it and finished another big project; even if nearing the end of September I was writing like 3,000 words a day... I've known for a while doing so much D&D homebrew writing and world building, that I'd want to eventually write a book. So this contest was the straw that pushed me to start for real. My D&D writing found some places in this story, with the magic system, but that's about it.
Maybe in the future I'll return to the FLIPSIDE universe. I've left many questions unanswered so sequel books could be in the works eventually!
